Conversation between me and my client this morning...anyone else gotten weirder over the past year 1/2 and think it's permanent??
All clients canceled, I've come down with a serious case of Cat On Lap...
Do you ever stretch and stretch and stretch your hips (or fill in the blank sore muscle) and they're still sore??
Stretching can feel great when we're stiff, BUT strength might be the more effective tool for long term relief.
Sometimes our muscles get tight when our nervous system perceives a lack of stability or strength. So you can stretch all day, but if there's not the balance of strength, you might still feel this natural tightening or bracing.
I think you'll be surprised at how quickly you feel better by adding in more strength work for your hips!
With this in mind I created the Strength, Stretch, and Self Massage 3 class bundle. The perfect blend of strength and relaxing feel good stretches and massage. Since so many of you ask for "hip stuff" you better believe I designed them to give you happy hips :-) And until Dec. 6th I am offering the classes at a HUGE 50% OFF discount.
send me a message to get 3 on demand classes at 50% off!
THIS SUNDAY (10:30-11am ON Zoom) I'm offering a FREE class to my as a Thanksgiving treat! You can come live, or enjoy a 5 day replay.
⭐Just message me your email address to get the class link & replay⭐
No experience necessary, but you do need to be able to get on and off the ground for the strength portion. If you only want the meditation portion, just send me your email & you can use the replay to skip the first part
I've wanted to try rollerblading again, but it's kind of a pricey "let's see if I can keep from falling on my face" experiment. Lucky me, on our local "Buy Nothing" page someone was giving theirs away! I figured that my tiny kitchen, with many things to grab onto, was a good first practice spot.
, beauty, and an obscene amount of laughter with my bestie .ackley7 up in . I'm going to feel this tomorrow (at least the sore hamstrings will come with a side of rejuvenated spirit🌲🌳🌿
Last night in my Hebrew class we had to talk for 2 continuous minutes in Hebrew and our topic was "family. "
My mom recently sent me this picture of me with my Saba and Savta in Israel, so I decided to talk about my favorite person that ever was: my Saba.
There is so much to share about him: how he was an incredible inventor, even inventing a communication component for the helmets of the IDF saving money and lives, despite having little formal education because he had to go to work so young to help support his family. How he patiently taught me the trope (singing notation) for my Bat Mitzvah. How he was so playful and warm despite having a hard life. The way he proudly showed his friends in Israel my letters in Hebrew "look what his granddaughter in America is doing! "
BUT my absolute favorite memory, and the one I shared in class last night, was our morning ritual when he would come to visit. Every morning I would wake up to find him praying by the window. I would quietly walk up beside him, and without words he would open his tallit (big prayer shawl) and wrap us both up inside of it. We would sway in this wool cocoon of love together while he finished the morning prayers. It's my forever favorite place.
While you watch the peaceful ripples of the water, feel the gentle waves of your breath.
Breathe in as you count to 5...
Breathe out as you count to 5...
Do this 5 times, and let beauty and breath wash through you. See what happens...
I do not enjoy waking up in the dark buuuuut I do like arriving to this glorious view for my first client of the day 😶
When your session unexpectedly becomes Puppy Pilates🤣
One welcomed surprise of this year has been how virtual sessions have unlocked even more possibilities for my clients and I. Going out of town, but don't want to miss your workout? No problem anymore!
I'm always a fan of finding creative solutions to perceived obstacles (time, injury, limitations, new to exercise, kids schedules, etc) and this whole zoom thing has really given me another tool to help us remove obstacles.
Want to get in on the fun? I have one more spot open for private sessions in September, message me for more info.
As I was walking to my apartment from my car a woman stopped me and said "do you like bread? "
I said 'I do like bread!"
and she told me "I just came from the farmers market and bought way too many loafs, would you like one? "😶
It was just the sweetest surprise and made me feel so good. I was bouncing my way home, and it reminded me of how easy it is to make someone's whole day/week with an unexpected offering of love💗
Just some light reading options for my break between clients🤣 Thank you for the addition, and optional weight lifting tool 😉
When you're working out at home or teaching a client virtually, you gotta get creative...no weights? Grab a cat🐈
*no cats were harmed in the making of this session
As Tim Gun would say, it was a moment
I'm still doggie sitting Sunshine so I don't have any of my weights or props with me, but wanted to do a workout with my trainer.
I sent him pictures of the furniture and told him I could use a heavier chair as my free weights.
We got creative & I got my butt kicked. There's always a way. Whether it's working around a physical limitation, or a lack of equipment, there's always a creative solution.
The theme song to The Golden Girls is probably my most frequent "random burst into song" so I was delighted to run into this on my morning walk.
I don't know who's car this is, but we should probably be friends...and maybe make 2 other friends and move into a house in Florida together...
One of my biggest misses from The Before Time was finding a new coffee shop for reading and tea time.
So happy to be coming back to life at
My clients anchor the day of the week for me, so when a regular is out of town I have no idea what day it is🙃
This morning that meant I was accidentally 15 minutes early for my client, which meant I ended up with some bonus time to get my body juiced up for the day.
Just flowing, no agenda, following what my body was asking for.
How I warm up for a training session:
-Get as many of my joints moving, in as many ways possible (since I can't seem to find the human oil can)
-Get my heart rate up a bit
-Combine full body movements I love from Qi Gong, martial arts, O.S., dance, Yoga, play
Also good for warming up for a hike when it's chillllly❄🌲
Hot off the press testimonial🤣 This was Larry's exclamation after our private Yoga session, and some of the best feedback I've ever received haha.
Want the cure to your murderous fantasies toward co-workers? I guess I have it, send me a message🙃
Get up close and beauty-full
Over the past 14 months I've primarily seen my mom over zoom 3 times a week for our Pilates session. Occasionally we'd have a patio get together where is sit in the grass by the curb & she'd sit up on her porch.
After hitting my fully fully vaxxed mark I plotted a surprise visit & hug fest with my mom. I scheduled a virtual pilates season with her for 11 this morning.
Unbeknownst to her I drove out to where she lives. A couple minutes "before our session" I sent her a zoom link but kept my video off. I told her that I was running late getting back home, but I'd start her session talking her through it
Her husband let me in, and then I turned on my video just as I was walking into her room. She said "where are you? "
And as I walked up next to her mat I said "I'm here, can't you see me? "
And then🥞🥞🥞 when my mom makes me pancakes they're called panckies. So we ate panckies together and then went for a walk holding hands. Best...
Don't be fooled by this tiny looking move, it's a major grunt-er. Sound on for instructions and grunting. Cheers to your strong & happy hips🥂

Home is where the Zoom is... that's the saying, right?
Well, it is when you're staying with a cutie🐱 and teaching &
Emerging...can you feel it too?
Feels good emerging from the incubation, intimacy, and nourishment of The Mood Boost Meditation Immersion AND the week of Passover.
In my last post I was talking about the motivation boost (dopamine) that comes from having something positive to look forward to.
BUT, there's a tradeoff
Right on the heels of dopamine is an interesting pain molecule, one that makes you want more and more and more of whatever it is that you're pursuing. That helps you keep pushing toward goals, but it is also part of why you're checking your social media for the 100th time, reading that while bag of cookies long past tummy bursting status, or any other means of trying to "fill yourself" that is getting a bit off kilter and relentless.
So how do you balance that?
Contentment is different than happiness. It is the peaceful, gratitude filled, feeling of enough. The feeling that you are right where you are suppose to be, an at-home-ness. This is associated with the molecule of serotonin, and we get this by turning inward and surrendering to the present moment; rather than seeking outward goals or rewards. We can access this space, this energy, any time we want. Neither of these states is better than the other, we want balance, and the ability to navigate between them.
This is exactly what we'll be doing in the 5 day Mood Boost Meditation Immersion. You will have plenty of pleasure and surprises to look forward to (surprise is another way to get dopamine flowing) and looooots of practices to help you melt into absolute contentment. In addition to the daily live classes (with replay) you'll have 2 worksheets of creative daily rituals to elevate your mood, AND 2 separate mood boost meditation videos yours to keep, and a lot more.
only ONE MORE DAY to sign up, just message me with "I'M IN" and you'll be sent payment info.
I can't wait!! (there goes that dopamine ;)

Love, Sara Kay
I just got this text from Corrina celebrating the anniversary of our first zoom hang out.
I'll come clean, I knew pretty much nothing about technology (my only "skills" were email, text, Google maps, and posting cat pics on social media) when The Now Time began. Suddenly I was suppose to convert my entire business, based around human interaction, to virtual.
The day Los Angeles was going to shut down I RAN to Best Buy (I didn't know it would be allowed to stay open) to buy a new laptop and an SD card with more memory (didn't even know that word). I didn't even have internet at home, I had no idea what I was going to do.
Since I wanted my client's experience to be smooth I would practice how to use zoom and the different features with Corrina before my sessions. I was determined to still create an intimate, calming, and uplifting experience for my clients, so I couldn't be clunking around. Being a mixture of apathetic toward, and intimidated by technology, this was a tall order. I couldn't have done it alone.
I'm so grateful for the loving support and practical help of *t and Thank you for your patience and cheerleading, and for helping me turn a horrifying mess into a new adventure💕...or at least both at the same time...AND thank you to my brave clients for taking this adventure with me. Our time together was my sanity life raft too
Full disclosure, if you think my newsletter is particularly good this week, I had a helper...
In other news, there's still time to sign up and get some really cool hip/ankle exercises(link in bio), for some reason it's taking me a little longer to finish🤣🐶
That time when suddenly turned into a cat in the middle of her Pilates session with her mom. A very unexpected side effect. Callie, did it fade, have you returned to your human form??!
Thank goodness all my clients sign waivers. My lawyer laughed when I asked him to include "not liable for any effects including injury, bodily harm, death, and magical transformations including animal forms" but who's laughing now ?
Simple soul pleasures: starting a new book, in the sunshine, at the park
Sometimes I have to remind myself that these simple pleasures are not only okay, but deeply important. But I forget, and I think "wait, I can't possibly do that, I might be missing out on some vital worrying time! What will crumble if I don't attend to the nameless worrying??" And then I remember... so here's your reminder😉
Well, most of my work still looks like me putting on an animal headband & teaching on zoom (and in case you're wondering, no, I don't teach children🤣 the animal headbands are for the uplift of adults, aka kids who suddenly find themselves in big weird grown up bodies)
BUT, when I do teach in person (yay for vaccinated seniors! ) this is how we roll🥖
Have you ever noticed how utterly blissful a dog, cat, sea lion, lizard, you name it, appears when they're sprawled out in a sun spot? Guess what, you can have that to!
Getting out into the natural light (especially after waking and at sunset) has such a deep impact on your mood, sleep, hormones, and not to mention flooding your everything-ness with a sense of gratitude and contentment.
See what shifts if you start your day like this, even just 10 minutes. See what happens if you put your phone down right now and go grab 3 breaths in the sunshine...if you want more tips & videos on how to improve how you feel and move in body and mind join my mailing list (link in bio) I send out 2-3 helpful emails a month. Ok seriously, put down your phone & get your lizard on🦎 💕
I don't like doing like doing things I'm not good at, like, immediately🤣 This wasn't always the case. I remember spending hours learning the monkey bars and the rings, getting a little further across each time. Or maybe it's because when I was younger I had this wonderful-delusional-self confidence, so I might have thought I was amazing immediately, and just getting more amazing🤣🤣
I don't know... but what I do know is that I want to improve my tolerance for taking on things that I suck at or are scary, and digging in. That's why I signed up for Handstand Club with handstands are stressful for me, and clearly (by this video) we are doing drills that I'm not, um, immediately good at.
Cheers to all my fellow floppers, flailers, and grumblers who are giving it (whatever the "it" is for you) a try 🎉
Kitties loooove to marinate in the melt-y meditation space, and they're always a VIP guest. Sound on for kitty meditation soundtrack
Thank you Shakti for joining our Mood Boost Meditation Immersion! And thank you for blessing us with her fluffy purrfection💕💕💕what a way to start the day!
My clients know me so well, one of them just emailed me this with subject line "to make your smile"
Literary reference, cat, and humor, yup, she nailed it! 🤣
This is how I feel after day 2 of my Mood Boost Meditation Immersion. Today's class was focused on increasing clarity, focus, joy, and ultimately: contentment
How? By reducing anxiety, fear, heaviness, and any other schmootz (yup, the class learned some Yiddish today as a bonus🤣) that is like a a low hanging fog obscuring our vision. Today we did that through Chi Gong practices, soooo needed that!
Today was the start of my Mood Boost Meditation Immersion, and lucky me I get to share it with my soul-sister ! While I wish we were frolicking through the forst together, this is the next best thing💕 Thank you for the sweet text Rie, best start to my day!
