How to Control Your Emotions
✔️Label Your Emotions
Before you can change how you feel, you need to acknowledge what you're experiencing right now. Are you nervous? Do you feel disappointed? Are you sad?
Keep in mind that anger sometimes masks emotions that feel vulnerable--like shame or embarrassment. So pay close attention to what's really going on inside of you.
Put a name your emotions. Keep in mind you might feel a whole bunch of emotions at once--like anxious, frustrated, and impatient.

✔️Reframe Your Thoughts
Your emotions affect the way you perceive events. If you're feeling anxious and you get an email from the boss that says she wants to see you right away, you might assume you're going to get fired. If however, you're feeling happy when you get that same email, your first thought might be that you're going to be promoted or congratulated on a job well done.
Consider the emotional filter you're looking at the world through. Then, reframe your thoughts to develop a more realistic view.
Sometimes, the easiest way to gain a different perspective is to take a step back and ask yourself, "What would I say to a friend who had this problem?" Answering that question will take some of the emotion out of the equation so you can think more rationally.

✔️Keep Practicing Your Emotional Regulation Skills
Managing your emotions is tough at times. And there will likely be a specific emotion--like anger--that sometimes gets the best of you.
But the more time and attention you spend on regulating your emotions, the mentally stronger you'll become. You'll gain confidence in your ability to handle discomfort while also knowing that you can make healthy choices that shift your mood.

Jaimal Yogis' Guide to Meditation and Mindfulness

4 Scientific Findings on the Impacts of Mindfulness and Meditation

Exacerbated by the pandemic, around eight in 10 Americans experience at least one day a week they label as "stressful." While we may be tempted to accept stress as a fact of life in the modern world, the reality is stress can manifest itself in mental and physical symptoms that lead to greater health problems.

Meanwhile, at the forefront of tackling how we deal with stress healthily is the practice of mindfulness. In schools, mindfulness is replacing detention, workplaces are partnering with meditation companies, and sports teams from the Seattle Seahawks to the U.S. women’s national soccer team incorporate mindfulness to keep their elite edge. Meanwhile, there are tons of resources available to the everyday person concerning mindfulness techniques, much of it due to its surge in popularity from its century-old roots in Buddhism.

But what does empirical data have to say about mindfulness techniques? Is mindfulness just a 21st-century buzzword or a tool with science-backed qualities and benefits?

Jaimal Yogis' Guide to Meditation and Mindfulness Acclaimed author and mindfulness coach Jaimal Yogis teaches how to meditate, conquer fear, and control your mindset through a series of guided meditations and lessons.

Happy World Ocean Day!!!
🌊 🐠 🐬 🛶 🌊 🏄🏽‍♀️ 🏊‍♀️ 🦀 🐚 🌊
Most of us can easily attest to the fact that the ocean has a positive impact on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Spending time by the sea can improve mood levels and genuinely make you feel more alive. It is one of the many reasons why we love to travel to different beaches around the world and spend vacation time by the sea. There is something indescribably relaxing and enjoyable about our feet being immersed in the soft sand, or being gently tossed about by the salty frothy waves. Time by the ocean leaves you feeling awakened and cleansed – physically, emotionally and spiritually. The combination of sun, sea and sand is the most natural and easily accessible form of therapy available to us as human beings.

Since ancient times we have been aware of the healing and transformational properties of the ocean and the mysterious draw that we have to the seaside. The Greeks, Romans and Egyptians understood the therapeutic properties of seawater, while Hippocrates, Galen, Plato and Aristotle all recommended time spent immersed in the healing qualities of the ocean.

Today, scientists all over the world are continually working to quantify the positive effects of water too. Studies have already shown that living in coastal areas leads to an improved sense of physical health and wellbeing. The by or in the ocean has been proven to induce a meditative state that makes us happier, healthier, calmer, more creative, and more capable of connection. This is just the beginning.
Here are some of the most significant benefits of the ocean:
Boost Immunity
Improves Skin, Inflammation & Infection
The Best Dose of Magnesium
Lowers Stress & Anxiety

Self Care is NOT Selfish. You are allowed to care for yourself. You are allowed to say no. You are allowed to change your mind, you are allowed to do what is right for you!

Vegan Banana Muffins (with added protein!) 🍌 by @alex.bouwer

Continuing my promise to share plant based on the go snacks 🚙 I made the yummiest muffins perfect to satisfy that sweet craving!

SAVE this one because these are so easy to make, and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to develop my own recipe for you to enjoy too 🤗

I loved using @junglesouthafrica as the base of this recipe to keep them high in fiber and to give that bran texture and flavour 👌

Tip 💡
Depending on the bananas and sweetener used, you can reduce this amount

In light of mental health awareness month, we want to point out a common response that we are used to receiving from our friends, coworkers, family members, and even strangers that may seem like a normal response but may actually be hiding or deflecting how that person actually is feeling.

If someone responds with I'm fine" ask a deeper, follow-up question such as "tell me more" or "how so". You may get another response that indicates that they are actually "okay" or they open up a little more.
Disclaimer: be prepared for "real" answers in that if someone is troubled, you opened the door and it is your opportunity to provide comfort and support.

Everyone is going through something or has been through something. Practice mindfulness and give compassion and kindness to everyone you meet.

Creating habits, both good and bad, that stick is not as difficult as we think.

When you want to find your peace, you won’t find it in a destination- even in a place as beautiful as this one. (Koh Phayam)
Your peace is within you which is good news! Because if your peace is inside you, no one can take it and you can take it everywhere you go.
Mindfulness can lead you to peace. It can help to keep you calm, it can help you not react triggers, it can help you eliminate tiggers, and it can help you create consistent levels of peaceful thoughts.
Your mindset is everything and the way you think creates the world around you.
Do you agree? How do you practice mindfulness? Do you want to learn more about mindfulness?

Wellness Coach Krystal interviews Dr. Dana Garfin, aka the Stress Less Professor, on easy ways to practice Mindfulness. Dr. Garfin is an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Irvine, a meditation practitioner, and a Mindful-Based Stress Reduction instructor.

Triggers are anything that remind someone of previous trauma. 😨To be triggered is to have an intense emotional or physical reaction, such as a panic attack, after encountering a trigger.😱
Less obvious things, including songs, odors, or even colors, can also be triggers, depending on someone's experience.
When we react to an experience, we can get caught up and identified with what’s arising. If our experience is positive, we feel elated but when we’re having a hard time, reactivity can take us into a downward spiral.
The rationale for being mindful is that witnessing without reacting ultimately gives us freedom.
Freedom from pain, paradoxically, actually occurs when we don’t avoid it, but slow down, and allow ourselves to feel what is in a mindful way.
What to do when you get Triggered
Rather than focus on the feeling, we can put our attention on the awareness that underlies it.
Slowing down to watch the breath, and staying neutral as we attend to our thoughts/emotions/sensations, provides us with the reference point of awareness.
When we slow down, and give our experience permission to be what it is, we develop compassion for ourselves and for others. People can influence how we feel but when reactivity takes over, we are ruled by our triggers. Mindfulness practice allows us to be present with difficult feelings. It helps us to build neural pathways that privilege awareness, provide freedom from pain, and allow us to enjoy more joyful and fulfilling lives.
