I (40sM) have a 14-year-old daughter who made a huge birthday wish 🦃 list. At 💐 the top was a Dyson Airwrap because she’s obsessed with TikTok and YouTube beauty stuff. I looked it up, saw the price, and decided it was insane for a kid. Instead, my wife and I bought several smaller items from her list, plus a nice hair dryer of her own and hair rollers. When she opened it, she went silent, looked miserable, didn’t thank either of us, and disappeared to her room. Later we argued and she exploded, saying it’s unfair because last year I bought 😉 my son Aaron (16) a very expensive Lego set 🐩 as a reward for doing well on exams. He has struggled 🌗 with anxiety and depression and it really lifted him up. Now my daughter says I “play 💁 favorites,” is texting relatives for sympathy, and acting like we wronged her. I think she’s being immature, but she insists it’s a double standard. AITA?

She started to push to get the legal 🐜 part 🤗 done, but we were having problems 🐕 and I was scared we wouldn't last so I gave excuses. Our problems broke us up. Our 🌈 child is now almost 4 and we are coparenting well. Our families know the truth, but its kind of treated as "close enough". I could play along for them, but my 🌟 ex has apparently convinced herself that we were married and that's she's not some "never married single mom".

Friends of the same race as my fiancée have been telling me that I'd need to give her parents gold 🐋 and 🚎 thousands of dollars before I marry her (this tradition only applies to brides). 😽 This is 🚁 a custom ☃️ to thank them for raising her. I (28M) have a ☄️ friend whose bride-to-be is controlling and toxic. His personality changed completely—he gave up soccer, stopped seeing his college friends, and became reclusive. His parents are worried, and we 🐄 try to support him. Recently, I was asked to walk his fiancée down the 🍸 aisle because her father, shy and hatefully avoiding attention, refused. I have no relation to her, and 🐦 it felt wrong to participate in what seems like an abusive relationship. I politely refused.

The next day when I came home, Jane was very annoyed with me and said she had 💒 heard me through the whole night, had heard me talk and pace around the room like 🚠 a mad woman and heard me get my 🚀 car. Before high school, our 😉 parents warned her: injuries would come from her college fund. She understood. Sophomore year, a bad injury meant surgery & therapy costing THOUSANDS from HER college fund. We attend similar schools. Leah 🐏 needs more loans. I joked about college costs. Leah snapped back, "Imagine paying thousands more because your parents don’t want to pay medical bills."
