Adding a band to pendulum squats changes the sticking point of the exercise. Instead of the bottom being the hardest part, the band makes the movement more challenging as you stand up. From an exercise programming standpoint, bands create a different training effect by letting you overload the top of the rep, where your muscles are stronger, while still allowing you to work through a larger range of motion and keep producing force through the full movement. As the band stretches, the exercise gets progressively harder.

Barefoot strength training can be a really useful way to build stronger feet and improve how connected you feel to the ground when you lift. Without a thick sole getting in the way, it can feel easier to stay stable, balanced, and aware of your positioning, especially in exercises where you really want to drive into the floor. It is also a simple way to get the feet working more instead of relying on the shoe to do all the support.

It can also help with overall foot strength and body awareness, which are things a lot of people do not pay much attention to in the gym. Stronger feet can support better control and movement quality, and barefoot lifting can make certain exercises feel more natural and grounded. Not everyone needs to train barefoot, but for a lot of people it can be a helpful tool in strength training.
