Do you know where success comes from?
This is a question we often consider as we strive to build the best possible training experience for our clients.
And these days there is not shortage of supposed answers ranging from the latest fitness fad to online guru.
So with our combined decades of training experience and hundreds of clients reaching their goals over the past two year, what is the secret to fitness success?
This answer will surprise you.
Although losing weight or getting in shape is a personal process, it is not one that is every truly accomplished alone.
All great physiques or transformation photos have a story and often a team behind them.
We've found that the people that lose the most weight and are most successful in our lifestyle building programs are those that most lean into their support systems both at home and from their training team.
This is because of an undeniable fact...
We humans are social creatures and we are programed to protect and support those in our "tribe" even more than ourselves.
Which means that even the people who think they have the worst personal discipline end up thriving in an environment in which they build a connection with the people supporting them.
Success then comes not from individual effort, but instead from the shared responsibility of the team.
Animals form packs and herds for protection and we humans form tribes in order to find strength.
This ability to bond and to share a goal with another person who can be both mentor, guide and inspiration is what we see as the key to success.
So whether it's at work, in your weekend hobby or in pursuit of your fitness goals, you need to surround yourself with the people that want you to succeed as much as you do.
No one wins alone nor should they have to try.
Seek out the people on your path and the people a few steps ahead for camaraderie and guidance.
You are not in this alone and the sooner you reach you hand out for help the sooner someone will pull you forward towards your goal.

5 STEPS TO LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT COUNTING CALORIES
You know whatโs worse than getting bad advice?
Getting good advice thatโs too complicated for you to do anything with and that leaves you feeling even more defeated than before.
When I was in college I struggled with algebra because I am a visual thinker.
Because of this, I would often end up going to one of my professors for help.
My professor was a brilliant mathematician, but whenever I asked for help he would spit out a bunch of directions that I had no chance of keeping up with.
Not wanting to appear stupid I would nod my head and pretend like I knew only to go ahead and fail the next test.
I ended up feeling so defeated I actually dropped the class.
The next semester I took the class again but this time with a different professor.
When I went to him for help he could tell I was out of my element and instead of spitting a bunch of complicated jargon at me, he related the concepts to things I already understood.
He took the time to create a system that would work for me.
I ended up getting an A in the class.
The lesson here is that when you ask for help the person giving it should not set you up for failure.
So how does this apply to fitness?
I get a ton of clients who come to me for help with losing weight and although I could give them a complex or one size fitโs all answer, I know that it will only leave many of them feeling defeated.
So instead I listen and give them actionable advice.
Is it always optimal for everyone?
No, but it is optimal for them.
So for the countless people for whom calorie counting just doesn't work (no judgment on that) here are my 5 tips that my most successful clients use to lose weight.
๐ง Eat mindfully - Avoid phones and TV while eating and pause before you start a meal to consider whether you are hungry or instead bored or stressed. Being
๐ฅฉ Prioritize protein - Protein is more filling and essential for muscle repair, so make sure to include at least 20g at each meal.
๐ฅ 2:1 veggies to carbs - Carbs are by no means evil, but balance their consumption out with two servings of vegetables for each serving of carbs on your plate. This will leave you feeling more full without the extra calories.
๐ฑ Stick to full meals - Grazing is one of the most damaging habits when it comes to sticking with your diet so make sure you stick to 3-4 full meals each day rather than an endless series of snacks.
๐ Listen to your body - When you have the urge to eat take a moment to pause and consider whether you are truly hungry or rather experiencing stress, fatigue, or boredom. If you want to eat intuitively then you're going to have to pay attention to the signs.
It should be noted that although counting Calories isn't essential to losing weight, some type of nutritional system is.
If you want random results and frustration then stick to random behaviors.
But if like most people you want predictable results you can be proud of then you need to follow a plan.
If youโre confused on what exact steps you need to take to see changes in your body then let me help.
Use this link to book an absolutely zero obligation call with me https://calendly.com/virtuo1/nutrition-consultation
Iโll share exactly what steps I think you need to take to reach your goal and let you make use of my nearly 15 years of coaching experience.
If after we speak you have questions about my coaching programs Iโm happy to answer them but absolutely no pressure.
My job is to help educate and inspire so the call is my pleasure whether we work together or not.
I look forward to speaking with you!

WHY CARDIO ISN'T THE ANSWER TO LOSING WEIGHT ๐โโ๏ธ๐จ
Have you been upping your cardio to lose weight but not seeing a difference?
Or worse yet you're losing weight but it seems to be in all the wrong places?
Chances are you've made the common mistake of trying to use cardio as a weight loss tool.
The good news is we're here to set the record straight on why cardio isn't helping your burn stubborn fat and why it actually may be hurting your progress.
#1 - You can't outwork a bad diet so don't use exercise to try and balance out poor nutritional choices.
#2 - You aren't burning as many Calories in workouts as you think and you're eating too many to compensate.
#3- You are neglecting weight training for cardio leading to a loss of muscle mass which burns more Calories.
#4- You are putting too much exercise stress on your body leading to slowed progress.
( #4 Not likely for most people)
If you're like many people who have a basic understanding that they need to burn more than they consume to lose weight then you have probably thought the following:
"If I get in more workouts I can eat more food."
Although there is some logic to this line of thinking the reality is that most people will overestimate how many Calories they burn in workouts and underestimate how much they are eating.
This leads to slowed or no progress which leads them to give up and oftentimes end up gaining weight ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
To keep things simple, do the following to lose weight.
- Move daily (7500-10k steps)
- Drink 1/2 oz water. / lb of bodyweight
- Track Calories and focus on getting .7g / lb of bodyweight
- Weigh in weekly and aim to lose 1% of your bodyweight per week
- Strength train 3 x per week

Want to know the secret to making massive progress?
It's often stated that you are the sum of the 5 people you spend the most time with and believe that wholeheartedly and our most succesful clients do too.
Here's what I mean.
When reached out, he was already putting his health first and boxing several times a week and watching what he ate, but something was missing.
There's a difference between doing things casually and trying to be your absolute best, and Grant was on a mission to be his best self.
When we got him into rhe gym we knew he was one of us and his work ethic combined with our process-driven approach to training, nutrition and performance has him on track to be the fittest he's ever been.
When winners start to succeed they want to bring the people that matter in their lives along with them, and so Grant went ahead and introduced us to his friend Vinnie who was looking to get back in shape after a long time away from the gym.
Different reasons for coming to , but the same mentality; that the discipline and focus on one's health carries over into every other area of life.
As Grant is a member of the Virtuo Legacy group, we rolled out the red carpet for Vinnie with a discount on his package and as a thank you to Grant hooked him up with a thank you gift for filling our community with another winner like him.
And because we are committed to paying it forward we made a donation in Grant's name to the for spinal cord injury research.
Thank you to Grant for being such an amazing client and for helping us build our community with more amazing people like him.
If there is someone you know who you think would benefit from working with us then all you have to do is include us on a group message and we'll roll out the red carpet for them, make a donation to charity in your name and even though we know it's not why you do it, we'll send something special your way as well.
All it takes is a simple introduction to change the life of someone that matters to you.
Who would you like to introduce us to?
Tag them in the comments below and pay it forward.
