Capoeira Brasil is heading back to Brazil from Nov 16 - 26, 2026 for our 2nd Rio + Retreat and we want you to join us! 🇧🇷🌴☀️

We’re taking you to the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro (think golden beaches, capoeira, cultural excursions and views that don’t feel real) and then transporting you away to a lush, peaceful private retreat in Itamonte, where the mountains meet the silence and you can truly unwind.

This trip is designed for everyone: capoeiristas and non-capoeiristas alike. Families are welcome, and we’ll be offering special rates for children.

Nossa história começou no Grupo Senzala, há mais de quatro décadas, e se fortaleceu com a fundação do nosso grupo em 1989.

Mestre Paulinho foi parte essencial dessa caminhada, deixando um legado de dedicação, amizade e amor pela capoeira.

It is with deep sorrow that Grupo Capoeira Brasil shares the passing of one of our founders, Mestre Paulinho Sabiá.

Our journey began in Grupo Senzala more than four decades ago and was strengthened with the founding of our group in 1989.

Mestre Paulinho was an essential part of this path, leaving a legacy of dedication, friendship, and love for capoeira.

May God receive him in a good place and bring comfort to the hearts of his family, friends, and students.

🇧🇷Hoje, 14 de janeiro, celebramos 37 anos de história do Grupo Capoeira Brasil.

Um grupo que nasceu em 1989, movido por um sonho simples de três capoeiristas e ao mesmo tempo gigantesco: preservar, viver e espalhar a capoeira com verdade, respeito e identidade. O que começou como um caminho de poucos, tornou-se uma grande família espalhada pelo Brasil e pelos quatro cantos do mundo.
São 37 anos de rodas, treinos, batizados, viagens, desafios, vitórias, quedas e recomeços.
37 anos formando não apenas capoeiristas, mas seres humanos, transmitindo valores como disciplina, humildade, lealdade, amizade e resistência.
O Capoeira Brasil não é só um grupo — é um legado em movimento.

Minha gratidão profunda a todos que fizeram e fazem parte dessa caminhada. Que venham muitos outros anos de ginga, união, crescimento e axé.

🇺🇸 Today, January 14, we celebrate 37 years of history of Grupo Capoeira Brasil.
A group born in 1989, driven by a simple yet at the same time gigantic dream shared by three capoeiristas: to preserve, live, and spread capoeira with truth, respect, and identity. What began as the path of a few has become a great family spread throughout Brazil and across the four corners of the world.
These are 37 years of rodas, training, batizados, travels, challenges, victories, falls, and new beginnings.
Thirty-seven years of forming not only capoeiristas, but human beings, passing on values such as discipline, humility, loyalty, friendship, and resilience.
Capoeira Brasil is not just a group — it is a legacy in motion.

My deepest gratitude to everyone who has been and continues to be part of this journey. May many more years of ginga, unity, growth, and axé come.

Congratulations to all of us, Capoeira Brasil.
May the roda never stop.

Taking a moment to celebrate the CBLA Formandos (brown cords), who will play a big part in this year’s Ponto de Cultura event, sharing their experience and knowledge with the students in the upcoming days.

We’re excited to feature Formandos (Fominha), (Amazonas), (Bode), (Alongado), .execute (Calango), (Tanque), (Tapioca), (Oba), (Jujuba) and (Ligeirinho) throughout the festival.

Ponto de Cultura 2025 kicks off today with a lineup of amazing guests, under the supervision of Mestre Boneco . We’re excited to welcome , Mestre , Mestra Pavão , Mestre Chegado , Mestra Joy (Coruja) , Mestre Tuzinho for a week of capoeira, community, music and exchange.
