SQUATS CONTD • squats are a helpful skill to have at your disposal. If you can relax into your full squat you are:

• Stretching your pelvic floor and back
• Allowing your tail to just ‘hang’
• Improving range in your hips and ankles
• Living in a primal posture that our ancestors occupied in daily life

Here I’m playing with variations of support in my squat. Your heels may be lifted. Place your hands in front for support. Can you then place them behind you? You can also hold onto a couch arm for support. Or grab a doorknob in each hand (with the door ajar). Let your pelvis hang. Breathe.

How often do you squat? Is this part of your movement practice?

✧ Taking space and making space ✧
What has this time away from the studio and the hustle and bustle of daily life in LA taught us? First of all, that mat work should never be seen as easier than Pilates on the equipment! 🙈 But also that making space in our day for physical activity helps us take up more space in other parts of our lives - from being present for our families and friends, to actively fighting for social change. MoJo is always here to keep you moving - whether in the studio or online 🧡

Gaida has been incorporating props into her live classes - but don’t worry if you don’t have them, she’ll give you modifications if not! For this exercise, use a pillow in place of the ball and cans for weights! 🧡
