June 17, 2010. Game 7. Lakers vs. Celtics. Everything on the line.

This wasn’t just about a championship — it was about revenge, redemption, and legacy.

Two years earlier, Boston embarrassed the Lakers in the 2008 Finals. Blew them out in Game 6. Questioned their toughness. And Kobe Bryant never forgot.

Game 7 in 2010 wasn’t pretty. It was a grind-it-out, defensive war. Every rebound, every foul, every possession felt like life or death. Kobe struggled with his shot but made up for it with 15 rebounds — willing his team forward by sheer force of will.

Pau Gasol was relentless down low. Metta World Peace — still Ron Artest in the minds of many — hit the biggest shot of his life: a three-pointer with under a minute left to seal it.

And when the buzzer sounded, the Lakers had done it. Banner #16.
Final score: 83–79.

Kobe fell to his knees. Two straight titles, and five overall. One more than Shaq. And this one — against Boston — meant more than most.

“I wanted it so bad,” Kobe said after the game. “There’s no way we’re losing this game. I’m not going to let us lose this game.”

It wasn’t his best performance, but it might have been his most meaningful.
A tough, gritty win.
A rivalry renewed — and settled, at least for one night.

That night, purple and gold got one step closer.
And Kobe got his revenge.

Watching Bynum come into the league and start to figure things out in those early years was such a fun time. A star that shined extremely bright, but unfortunately very briefly 🌟

April 13, 2016.

One last time in the purple and gold. One last roar from the crowd at Staples Center. One last chance to watch a legend do what he was born to do.

By then, Kobe Bryant’s body had endured it all — torn ligaments, fractures, Achilles ruptures. He wasn’t the same physically, and the Lakers were far from contenders, but none of that mattered.

Because for one night, the Mamba had one more story to write.

He started slow, shaking off nerves and rust. But then — shot after shot, bucket after bucket — the crowd rose with every point. As the game wore on, it felt like the years melted away. Vintage Kobe took over. Fadeaways. Pull-ups. Clutch jumpers. That look in his eye.

And when it mattered most, with the Lakers trailing late, he delivered — again and again.

60 points.
In his final game.
At age 37.

No player had ever done anything like it. Not in their finale. Not on that kind of stage.

The building erupted. Teammates, fans, legends — they all stood in awe. Kobe grabbed the mic after the buzzer and gave us five words that will live forever:

“Mamba out.”

It was part fairytale, part miracle, all heart.

Only Kobe could script an ending like that.
Only Kobe could make us believe in magic — one last time.

Magic Johnson's rookie year and incredible Game 6 performance!
It was Game 6 of the 1980 NBA Finals. The Lakers were up 3–2 on the 76ers. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the league MVP and franchise anchor, was out with a severe ankle sprain. Most teams would’ve folded, but the Lakers had Magic.

Just 20 years old. A 6'9" point guard from Michigan State. Smiling, fearless, and unshakably confident.

Magic Johnson didn’t hesitate - he walked into that game and told coach Paul Westhead:
“I’ll play center.”

Magic ran the offense, crashed the glass, scored in the post, and led from the front. He finished with 42 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists, completely dismantling Philly in their own building.

It was the birth of a legend!

The Lakers won the game, 123–107, they took home their first championship in L.A. since 1972, and Magic Johnson became the only rookie in NBA history to win Finals MVP.
