Today the honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Our Chapter President Summer Zachery gave a chapter report on everything we’ve done in the past year since last year’s conference.

National EWMC RENEW President Alan Mora just gave some closing remarks during the final session of the 36th Annual EWMC Leadership Conference.

The parking location for the parade this Saturday is 14521 Friar St, it costs $7, the van will be there at 9:30 am to start taking members to the front of the parade.

TODAY IN LABOR HISTORY: The Battle of Century City.

35 years ago today on June 15th 1990, the Service Employees International Union were holding a peaceful march in protest against cleaning contractor ISS in Century City.

When workers linked arms to cross a street, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers confronted these men and women, beating them with batons and injuring dozens of marchers.

The event generated public outrage that resulted in recognition of the workers’ union and spurred the creation of an annual June 15 Justice for Janitors Day.
