Oxy Swim and Dive has its eyes on winning a Conference Championship and becoming a perennial Top 10 Team at the NCAA Championship Meet. Nearly 75% of the Swim and Dive Team are underclassmen, which speaks to the potential for growth on the team across the next several seasons.
In 2007, the Men's Team finished 13th at the NCAA Division III Championship Meet. Last year, the Women's Team finished third in the Conference and qualified a female to NCAA's for the first time in several years. This season, the Team has added five student-athletes whose times would have qualified for the 2011 NCAA Championship Meet. You could add to that development by becoming a trailblazer for a new era in Occidental Swimming and Diving. For more information on the NCAA Division III Championship Meet and Qualifying Standards (they're faster than you think!) please visit:http://d3swimming.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Qualifying_Standards_Selection-Times_2011_12.pdf Occidental College draws a highly competitive national student-body that is eager to succeed and improve in everything they do. We look for the same qualities in our student-athletes on the Swim and Dive Teams. Athletics at Oxy is about the total educational experience. We look for student-athletes that value their personal and athletic development in the pool as an integral part of their college experience. Academics always come first, but the opportunity to get faster and add to the positive atmosphere of the Oxy Swim and Dive Team is a close second.
