The holiday season is the season not just for building county but also for giving back to our local community. That's why, last year, we held our first toy drive. Through this drive, we raised $2,000 and provided over 150 toys to children at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles..

@childrensla and their health teams do so much to keep children both in Los Angeles and around the country as happy and healthy as possible. Their specialists extend their care to adults to ensure they receive the highest quality care and treatment. We hope to brighten smiles of the children at CHLA with the toys from this drive.

If you want more information about us or CHLA, you can visit either of our pages. If you would like to donate, you can do so at the GoFundMe page linked in our bio or through the QR code on the flyer. To donate to Sports and Recreation for the Blind, you can click below.

"It was nice to meet people who go through everyday life's challenges with low vision like myself." @robert_k_tanaka a Judo paralympian, joined us last Friday as we went horseback riding at @darkhorseranchinsunvalley

He echoes what so many people who are blind and visually impaired feel when they are given the opportunity to connect. Events like the horseback riding one we organized give them that opportunity along with access to activities usually closed off to them. "The staff at Dark Horae Ranch was welcoming and were very helpful in giving us an opportunity to ride horses."

Creating opportunities for people who are blind and visually impaired to come together and meet others with similar experiences while simultaneously making new ones is what drives Sports and Recreation for the Blind forward each day.

Photo Deacription: Robert is riding a horse though the ranch with great riding posture, holding on to the saddle for support. He is dressed in a cowboy hat, red and black shirt, and blue jeans.

Our Holiday Toy Drive needs some boost! If you can, please share!

Hello All

Now that summer has come to an end and we are all trying to get back to a sense of normalcy, Sports and Recreation for the Blind is ready to hit the ground running.
Last fall we hosted our first toy drive (The Santa project) where we raised $2,000 for the patients at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. With the money raised we were able to buy 150 toys!
This year Sports and Recreation for the Blind is looking to double up our efforts. Starting October 1, 2021 through December 15, 2021 we will be hosting our new holiday drive (Holiday Toy Drive) where we are not just helping the patients at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles we are also going to be helping the patients at Saint Jude Medical Center!
Our new goal is $4,000. With the money raised, we are going to be purchasing items from both hospitals’ donation wishlist. (Items include toys, sports jerseys, and other needs and wants.)
Sports and Recreation for the Blind will be obtaining the toys from the Mattel toy store and we will be visiting stores like Fanatics, Team LA, and the Dodgers store. For other needs and wants we will be visiting stores like Target and Walmart.

If you would like to help raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles or for Saint Jude Medical Center please click on the donate button.

All donations are tax deductible. Thank you for your time and your consideration in donating to our holiday drive!

Today Sports and Recreation for the Blind went horse back riding at the Dark Horse Ranch. We had riders from Southern California and one Paralympic judo rider from Colorado. Our riders got to ride a movie star horse. He belongs to Jamie fox and he was in the movie Django.
