came for me this morning, wasting no time as you can see the timestamp on this post is 7am.

I was rushing to a 5:45 spin class, testing the limits of my fuel reserve in my car (it’s only a little over a mile away). I ignored the fact that I had also been testing limits yesterday as well. In my many years behind the wheel, I had never been foolish enough to run out of gas. Yes, I am judgy about people who have had this happen, your car TOLD YOU what it needed miles ago! So as my car sputtered out halfway to the studio, I could only blame myself.

Walking in the dark to the nearest gas station, I tried not to berate myself too much. I took the time to recognize what a beautiful morning it was, grateful I wasn’t dealing with inclement weather. Additionally, I had the good fortune of being in the affluent neighborhood of Monarch Beach and the gas station was only about a mile away. I said one more silent thank you to the universe that I didn’t have to do the walk of shame in broad daylight, at this hour, there were few cars and I was certain no one noticed me.

When I arrived at the gas station, they were still closed with about 15 minutes before they unlocked their doors. I peered in to see a gentleman stocking the shelves. He smiled and said they open soon. I smiled back and said no problem, I ran out of gas & need to buy a can, but I can wait. He rushed to the door, let me in, got me a can and charged me for a gallon of gas. THEN he proceeded to assist me in assembling the can and filling it! (As I mentioned, this is my first experience with this type of unfortunate situation.)
