A University of Virginia study states that it would take about 250,000 crunches to burn a pound of fat...just sayin

A couple of resistance bands are all you need to start your own home gym. At $12 they are one of the most versatile pieces of equipment you can own. Try this circuit of 1 minute exercises: reverse fly, curls, tricep extension, lunge, sit ups. Count how many reps you get for each and then try to beat that number the second time through.
Fitness Tip: How strong is your core? Try holding a plank for a minute. If you can't make a full minute try doing sets of 20 or 30 seconds until you can work your way all the way up to a minute.
Fitness Tip: Having a hard time building your upper body? Add more legs workouts into your routine. Your legs contain some of your body's biggest muscles, so when you work them hard your body will release extra testosterone to help rebuild those muscles. Capitalize on the increased testosterone and work your upper body the day after your big legs workout.
There is always time to get in a workout, always.
Motivation is about how bad you want something. Motivation is what you're willing to sacrifice to get what you want. You say you want to lose weight. You say you want a flat stomach. It may be something you have always wanted, and you say you will do anything you can to get it. So you make some changes, and see a little progress. But the progress slows and now you're at a loss for what to do. You think that adding a workout here, and eating a little less there is going to cut it. The truth is you need to be motivated enough to dedicate your time and energy to a process that isn't just temporary, but a lifestyle change. And yes, its hard, but in the end it works, and you live a longer, happier, healthier life. And you ensure that when you have kids, you get to see them grow up, get married, and have kids of their own. Now there's some fuel for your motivation.
Fitness Tip: Static stretching (holding a stretch in one position) will actually make your muscles weaker before a workout. Try some dynamic movements before your workout, if your doing legs try some body weight squats, lunges, and one leg deadlifts. If your doing upper body start off with some pushups. Save your static stretching for the end. It will help you increase your range of motion.
Fitness Tip: Kick up the cardio. Short bouts of high intensity running/biking/elliptical(ing) followed by periods of rest will get you in better shape faster. Its called High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.). Try this on the elliptical or stationary bike: 15 seconds sprint, followed by 45 seconds of rest at a jogging pace. Try to complete 20 mins!
Fitness Tip: Trying to lose weight? The treadmill won't help you as much as you think. Putting in regular hours running at the same pace will make you sweat, but you won't burn as many calories as you would doing the same amount of time resistance training. Once you get off the treadmill, you're done burning calories. Weights and body weight exercises will help boost your metabolism for more than 24 hours after you finish. Email [email protected] and try your first session free!
Nutrition Tip: Kickstart your metabolism. When you wake up in the morning your body has been fasting for 7-8 hours. Break the fast by eating a high protein meal within 30 mins of waking up. It will turn on your body's furnace and help you burn calories all day.
Fitness Tip: If you have back pain, theres a good change you have tight and/or weak hamstrings. Try doing some "good mornings" or forward bends. Feet slightly wider than shoulder width, legs straight (don't lock your knees), hands behind your head and elbows pulled back. Bend forward at the waist, keeping your legs straight. You should feel a stretch in the back of your legs (hamstrings). Come back to a full standing position. Try doing 2 sets of 8-10.

Fitness Tip: Trying to build a bigger chest? Make sure you work your back equally hard. You won't be able to put on size and strength if you're unbalanced. If you feel you are already unbalanced, try doing 2 sets of rows for every 1 set of bench press.
Nutrition Tip: Breakfast is your most important meal of the day. Gets your metabolism up and going for the rest of the day. Amp up your oatmeal, mix half a scoop of protein powder to a cup of milk and add it to your oats and microwave. Youll add about 15-20 grams of protein along with a lot of fiber that'll keep you fuller longer.
Fitness Tip: Want a flat stomach? Use your legs! Some of you biggest muscles reside in your legs, which means when you're squatting, lunging, deadlifting, or sprinting, you are going to burn the most calories. Check back for more tips every day!
