Did you hear the news? (Probably not, because we've been quiet for so long!)
Stoked Yogi has migrated across the sea, and is making a new home in Portugal! July 2022, founder Amelia Travis (that's me) moved from California to central coastal Portugal, to honor the desire for a slower, safer, more sustainable way of living.
We've been doing some recon of this incredible country, scouting out the best beaches, lagoons, rivers, hiking trails, and movement spaces, and look forward to sharing more with you going forward.
For now, as we continue 'landing' in this new place, and putting down roots, we're pulling back from stand up paddle board yoga and going back to our roots: surfing, yoga, outdoor fitness, and gathering humans for incredible retreat experiences.
Speaking of, if you'd like to see what the magic of Portugal is all about, please join me - and a team of other incredible facilitators - for a unique woman & femme centric gathering this September near Ericeira, Portugal.
Expect 6 nights and 7 days of stoke: some of the best beaching and fun surf the world has to offer, long sunny days, farm to table dinners, daily yoga, breathwork, meditation and sound healing sessions, exploratory creative sessions and arts / crafts, and some incredible cultural tours, curated by our local friend and impeccable event planner Amanda Marquez.
For our Stoked Yogi community, we'll honor 10% off the retreat rate for you - even beyond the early bird deadline. Airfare for September is looking pretty sweet right now, and more routes are being added to Lisbon from the states as we speak.

So, thank you for your love and support as we (finally) emerge from the cave of the past three years... I can't wait to reconnect and make more memories with you in the future!
In the meantime, how the heck are you? What are you up to? Catch me up!

My kids have been sick since September: a mood board.
But seriously, how are you doing over there? What’s the 2022 life like for you? How are you orienting? What challenges are you facing?
I wonder to myself about the folx who don’t work from home, and whose families are also going through this cycle of exposure after isolation which is apparently one three month extended snot fest, fevers, no sleep, and reflect YET AGAIN what a f**kbag it is that we’ve been conditioned into organizing as “nuclear families,” far from community and extended family support, because we need each other now - and that need is only growing stronger where we’re going (kids or not.) What a perilous structure, the modern five day 40+ hour workweek, the educational institutions where one adult is expected to caregive 35 young children for 7+ hours a day and not go insane or burn out.
And now, as we turn to the season of advent, the time of the dark womb and winters tomb, instead of resting in the shorter days and longer nights, we’ve created a month long tradition of materialism and consumption that exhausts, depletes, and drains so many people financially whilst dressing it up in twinkle lights.
I’m just saying, if you’re tired, overwhelmed, exhausted, grieving, raging, depressed or numb… duh. There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re just over there being human.
Also, and I find this part fascinating: amongst it all, I find solace in the simplest places: my body, intentional breathing, flowers after rain, wind blowing through the trees, storm clouds, petting my dog, the snuggles of my feverish and snotty kiddos, laying in a warm puddle of sunlight coming through the window, hot soup, being witnessed and tended in relationships.
Body. Breath. Nature. Each Other.
We have all these. So I’m holding onto my favorite conspiracy theory: we’re gonna be okay.
But really, how are you? Vent / dump / external processing welcome below. And if you’re GOOD, let me just say 🙌🏼❤️👏🏼✨ I’m celebrating with you and vicarious pleasure is a thing, so feel welcome to tell me all the good things below too. 😘

Today marks 60 days in Portugal. 🇵🇹
We haven’t been taking pictures, or making videos, or documenting the journey.
We’ve just been in it.
So here’s the summer photo dump of the moments we ✨did✨ capture, immersed in all the messy glory of landing in a new country as a family of 4.
1. Sunset over the Atlantic - new ocean, same nightly marvel.
2. 16 hours of air travel with 2 rad kids and one very helpful service dog.
3. The first beach walk on ‘our’ beach. Look at Brent’s face - it says it all.
4. We live near the 🦕✨🦖 Dino capital of Europe. The statues are very lifelike (butth0le included).
5. Me + my Pisces sun / son ☀️ in our happy place.
6. Cruising on our , best purchase ever. Going places with kids is now peaceful and fun (most of the time.)
7. The neighbors: caramelo, tata e toto. 🐈
8. Local adventuring and enjoying the slow life, bike style.
9. Exploring Óbidos castle during the Renaissance faire.
10. Climbing the castle walls and feeling the magnitude of history in the stones.
✨
As summer comes to a close and we get ready to start school with our big kid in a new country, I’m doing my best to be present and soak up the last few days of sweet togetherness, chaos and two little suns madness. 👨👩👦👦.
I will say this: pretty sure my pace of Instagram posting reflects the new normal of life speed in Portugal - very, very slow. 🐢
Here for it. ❤️

Because it’s been on my heart lately…
What are your thoughts on the term “divine feminine?”
What does it conjure up or evoke for you?
Do you have feelings toward the term, positive or negative?
I’d particularly love to hear from my q***r, non-binary, and gender fluid friends: how does DFF (divine freaking feminine) land with YOU?
Open, compassionate, curious, nonjudgmental conversation welcomed in the comments below.

May these words be the abridged version of my life story.
I used to say the prayer for my life was to love people the way God loves them.
Then I met the great mother and remembered I am people, too.

The art of Taye Bright] and the words of Adrianne Tamar Arachne] stopped me in my tracks.
"I’m no longer interested in any forms of spirituality, self mastery programs, success mentors, coaches, healers, spiritual thinkers, or activists that don’t ultimately lead their communities back to responsible association to tending the Earth.
The never ending quest for self-realization, personal brand mastery, self-success “soul”-preneurship all strike me as bypasses that have only served to keep us disassociated from what’s actually going on here.
Which requires us to exit the cult of individual success, whether seen through foggy spiritualized goggles or not, and get our hands dirty in the immediacy of our grounded environmental issues around us.
The Earth dies while we buy in to yet another charismatic voice telling us how to heal some yet unmastered part of ourselves even more deeply into narcissistic individual “success.”
The Earth dies while charismatics make millions on their self help platforms.
Sure, and for that matter… please do your personal healing.
But if my healing only keeps looping back to myself, and doesn’t ultimately lead to reassociation with the Earth and my work to be part of it, then I’m just a casualty of healing-themed consumerism, and still contributing to the problems that are destroying the planet."
Adrianne Tamar Arachne] thank you for the words my heart has been trying to form, and
Taye Bright] for this homage to ecological grief.
We are *literally* all in this together. Times feel heavier than ever so please go outside and breathe, listen to the trees, and find any way, small or large, to love our mother and each other. ❤️🌲🌈

♒️ Aquarius Season ☀️
cover art by
Tomorrow, Wednesday January 19, the sun shifts into the 11th sign of the zodiac, Aquarius. Aquarius is a fixed air sign related to progress, innovation, technology, liberation, humanitarianism, and the good of the collective.
Tapping into Aquarius energy means feeling gifted and comfortable being alone and marching to the beat of your own drum, while also bringing your qualities of genius, innovation, and humanitarianism to serve the collective.
Aquarius energy helps us find ways to shine and honor individual liberation, in turn giving others permission to seek after their own freedom as well.
Ruled by Uranus, Aquarius brings an element of electricity to our being, like a human lightning bolt, here to disrupt, innovate, invent, and do things differently - not for the sake of ego, but for the sake of collective liberation.
We’re here to be wildly authentic, to give freely, universally, wholeheartedly, to live a life on the cutting edge, to share resources, find our people, and build community.
We’re invited to be different, to buck convention, to think outside the box and be ahead of the curve - to feel like a sacred heretic, an unorthodox rebel, to innovate and think beyond what has already been done.
We step into this frequency by being fully, unapologetically, completely ourselves, and to align with and explore humanitarian ideals, new information, and challenge existing authority.
It starts with liberating ourselves and giving space for authentic self-expression. Bonus points if we find spaces to do this within the group, as Aquarius puts the We on equal footing with the Me.
If you’re feeling the winds of change and want to create interior spaciousness and more room for your freak flag to fly, please come join me to prepare to welcome the Aquarius sun, under a Leo moon, as we breathe for ALL OF US to experience true, embodied freedom.
Donation based breathwork is Wednesday, January 19 at 4pm PST / 7pm EST and YES, there is a replay (delivered to your email late night). Sign up via my links. 👁 🌈 ⚡️

New year, new moon, same (incredible) you. 👁🌈❤️
I recently had the pleasure of sharing intuitive tarot guidance with group of seekers and it was so fun that I thought I’d spread the love around and offer these practices to you, too.
1. Annual Calendar Tarot Spread ~ lay out all the cards and pull clarifying ones at the end as needed.
2. Cosmic Spread ~ looks at the energies showing up in your astrological houses this year.
3 - 10: Basic information about Tarot and how to guide yourself through an intuitive storytelling practice.
I’ve been playing with tarot since I was 8, thanks to who thought the cards were an interesting way to observe subconscious meaning making, and over the years have found so much comfort and insight in the stories the cards offer.
When you pull the cards and lay the spread, before checking your reference book, take a moment to talk aloud and tell yourself the stories you see in the cards. The more you practice this intuitive exploration, the more natural it will feel.
Wishing you bright new moon blessings and if you explore either of these spreads, I always love to hear your takeaways in the DMs! 🌚✨
