Master Chen Bing's New Frame Second Road (Xinjia Erlu; 新架二路)

In the principles of the Four Major Characteristics (四大特點 Sì Dà Tè Diǎn) in Chen Family Taijiquan, there is a discipline of

"Harmonize and help the hard and soft mutually, The fast and slow are mixed mutually."
(剛柔幷(相)濟 Gāng Róu Bīng(Xiàng) Jǐ, 快慢相間 Kuài Màn Xiàng Jiàn)

As it is shown, practicing slowness or softness is just half of Taijiquan from the yin-yang diagram.

Master Chen Bing (陳炳),also known as the ‘Big Dragon (大龍)’, is a 20th generation representative of the Chen family, and 12th generation lineage leader of Chen Family Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan). He is a direct descendant of Taijiquan creator Chen Wangting (陳王廷).

Master Chen Bing's New Frame Cannon Fist (Xinjia Erlu; 新架二路) part 3

Moving slowly or learning soft motion is NOT Tai Chi at all.

Can we call a slow dance motion as Tai Chi? What if you walk or move slowly, can it be called Tai Chi

YANG: WHITE - The Positive, Male, Sun, Light, Fast, Hard, Raise, Open, Wake, Discharge

YIN: BLACK - The Negative, Female, Moon, Dark, Slow, Soft, Lower, Close, Sleep, Save

Tai Chi strives for balancing Yin and Yang. If there is only Yin part that is slow and soft, it is just a half of Tai Chi.

True Tai Chi requires both Yin and Yang. In fact, true Tai Chi requires Yang part that is fast and hard as well.

Therefore, without practicing fastness and hardness in Tai Chi, it will be just 'HALF' of Tai Chi that can't seize the true Tai Chi.

Educational video part 1 of Old Frame Second Road (Laojia Erlu) by Master Bosco Baek. This form is commonly known as Cannon Fist (paochui) and focuses on fastness and hardness.

Let's think of this point. It is easy to capture how yin&yang is.

The yin (the negative) is black part of the yin&yang diagram and a female characteristic that is the moon, slow, soft, lower, dark, stillness and saving energy.

The yang (the positive) is white part of the yin&yang diagram and a male characteristic that is the sun, fast, hard, raise, light, movement and discharging energy.

If there are only slowness and softness, it is just a half of yin&yang and can't seize the true Tai Chi because Tai Chi is to balance out these two characteristics.

Except classical Chen Tai Chi, other Tai Chi styles possess softness and slowness only. Truly, they lack the white part that is the positive.
