AAY! is a results-oriented program that helps individuals achieve their fitness and nutrition goals in a fun & supportive community environment.
Operating as usual
It is with great sadness that we need to let our AAY Fitness community know that our beloved member Liz Young died yesterday, December 22. She passed peacefully holding the hand of her dear friend, Raghubir.
When Liz contacted us in August 2012 to inquire about joining our fitness program, we told her she would probably be better served by a program designed specifically for people in wheelchairs. She disagreed. She said her friends were members and she wanted to be a part of the community.
So we invited her to come in and check it out. We thought that once she saw our workouts she'd decide it wasn't for her. On the contrary, her eyes lit up! She was full of joy and couldn't wait to get started, so we said, ok, let's give it a try.
She immediately took to the workouts, and for the past eight years she's been one of our most consistent, dedicated and committed members. She showed up early, reviewed that day's workout & modifications, and gave her 100% effort with a smile on her face. She liked to be challenged and never wanted us to go easy on her.
When we featured her in a 2016 newsletter she wrote, ""AAY! helps me on a daily basis to stay focused, have a regimen that builds my strength both physically and mentally and makes it possible to do all I need to do to be a productive artist and teacher."
She absolutely loved being a part of the community and enjoyed partner and team workouts. She even played basketball & ultimate frisbee with us. She loved chatting with the trainers and the other members before and after the workouts and formed deep friendships with so many of us.
Our members constantly told us how inspired they were by Liz's strength & dedication to her fitness. She was truly a shining light and made all of our lives a little brighter.
Liz, we love you and will miss you!
❤️❤️❤️ Elaine & Narina
