The Tulsa Drillers are reportedly suspending their bat dog program following the freak injury involving Dodgers prospect Kendall George earlier this week. George suffered a left knee injury after attempting to avoid the bat dog while scoring during Mondayβs game. Video of the incident quickly went viral across social media.
According to reports, the Dodgers are still evaluating medical imaging, though early indications suggest George may have avoided major ligament damage. The 21 year old outfielder is considered one of the fastest prospects in baseball and entered the season as one of the Dodgersβ top young talents. He stole 100 bases last season in High-A and already had 26 stolen bases in 43 games this year.
Now, after the bizarre on field accident, Tulsa has reportedly decided to pause the bat dog tradition indefinitely.
