FIT HEARTS PROJECT
Myles Ahead of Cancer
First and foremost, the entire FIT LIFE Family would like to acknowledge everyone who helped make this year's first FIT HEARTS Project for the homeless a resounding success! Along with various organizations from Long Beach and Los Angeles County, we were able to give the gift of warmth this Winter by distributing socks, blankets, jackets and many other articles of clothing which you generously donated. Thank you!
As we begin the 2nd quarter of 2016 and well into this Season of Spring, the FIT LIFE Family is proud to partner up with the organization called Myles Ahead of Cancer in raising awareness and critical funds needed towards supporting programs for families with children who are afflicted with cancer.
Myles Ahead of Cancer is headed by Rob and Emilee McGowan, who lost their child, Myles, to cancer.
One of Myles' nurses during his treatment speaks highly of Myles and his family. While she will remain unnamed to respect her privacy, we share her statement:
"He was the cutest ever~as you can see on the flyer. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He was an amazing warrior~he powered through everything he had to go through~chemo & radiation & procedures. He channeled Spider man! He LOVED Spidey! He was always smiling~ hugs & kisses were his thing. He gave us the strength we needed to give him his treatment. Mom & Dad~Emilee & Robert are two of the strongest most devoted souls ever. He has an older sister & brother & a younger brother Diego (who was his best friend.) He was 5 years old when he slipped away quietly. His funeral was a tearful yet joyful event!"
We would like to encourage our family and friends to help us make this second FIT HEARTS Project another success by helping the team of Myles Against Cancer in their participation at the 2016 Walk for Kids to be held on April 3rd (Sunday) at the Exposition Park in Los Angeles, CA.
If you are able to participate, we are encouraging you to wear anything that relates to Spider-Man, or even clothes that have the colors red and blue. If you're not able to participate but are willing to make a donation towards the team, that would be highly appreciated just as well!
