Fitness Trainer, Movement Coach, & Sports Model… Venus Lau is located in Los Angeles, California and has been training clients since 2007. As a kid she played every sport available to her and even got her own gym membership at the age of 13. After losing both of her parents to cancer, she made her love of fitness a reality and became a personal trainer to energize and “awesome”-ize others. Her constant curiosity with the body and mind led her to acquire multiple training certifications (NASM-CPT, Onnit Kettlebell, Animal Flow Instructor Level 2, Yoga 200 Hr, TRX, Functional Range Conditioning, Primal Chains, EFTI, Boxing, Bulgarian Bag, & more quarterly ongoing). Venus also has the unique background of playing NCAA Division-I golf for Baylor University. She has instructed a variety of clients & classes (Bodyweight Mastery, Animal Flow, TRX, Sports Performance, Movement-X, and Golf Fitness) at a variety of notable gyms & locations (34 North, Jonathan Club, Velocity Sports Performance, Life Yoga Garden, Argo Adventure Retreats, Burn Fitness, Players Club Golf, Equinox). Venus has many years of athletic/fitness experience, including 10 years of competitive golf and 7 years of competitive swimming and has trained with multiple strength and conditioning coaches. To stay up to date with the current health & fitness community she attends continued educational courses and acquires new certifications with notable instructors on a yearly basis (i.e. Stop Chasing Pain-Dr. Perry Nickelston, Wim Hof Method, Clubbells, Hand-balancing…). During her competitive golf years she was instructed by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest top ranked PGA golf teachers (Butch Harmon, Dick Harmon, Phil Ritson, Rina Ritson, Brian Gathright). Her energetic nature and sense of humor suit all types of individuals. Actors, athletes, other trainers, post-injury clients, and fitness enthusiasts she has trained them all. And she also uses a variety of methods to train each client for their individual goals. She believes in multiple approaches to reaching fitness/health goals because all individuals are unique, from the anatomy of their body to the energy of their mental state. [12/02/20]   What does body confidence mean to you? {share your definition}

To me it is the ability to trust my body can move, connect, and feel free, graceful, and powerful.

Making shapes at every angle is not only Healthy but also FUN!

I was not a dancer or gymnast,
in fact coordination of multiple movements used to be really hard for me.

I got here by starting with the simple basics, foundational patterns, and constantly seeking awareness in my body.

You can do this too!

Yep you really can!
Does it take time?
...Duh, OBVI!

Is it easy?
...Nope! But the journey is fun, healthy, and full of growth!

I’m 41 years young and I love my body for what it has worked hard to do!
I’m more patient with myself because of this journey and I realize THIS is what I have been seeking the whole time!

Body confidence in Strength and Connection not just how I look in a pair of jeans or whatever...

We’ve all heard the saying “Choose your hard”...

To me that’s NOT the difference of hard or easy...

but instead Boring or Joyful.

We do hard things when they bring joy.
We also avoid easy things when they are boring.

Me? I slept in. Absolute joy to sleep in late 😴 and I don’t guilt myself anymore for doing that. I used to feel bad when I didn’t wake up early to be productive but I realize that my body and mind works damn hard and sometimes she just needs to be pampered.

Chatted with friends on FaceTime. Connection with others daily is healthy and important for well-being. And I’m grateful for the people in my life who let me be my silly self. And we are excited for all the changes going on in the world energetically #bidenharris2020 🇺🇸

And about to get on some work projects for VenusFit subscribers. Lots cookin up my sleeves and I love sharing things that get me excited!
Work is not always fun but when I remember why I’m doing it then I can turn my mood into a flow state of mind.

My goal is to help others find their flow and their fun...
This goal brings me joy.

Halloween 🎃 mood is witch-tastic! Did you know there’s a Blue Moon 🌚 tonight?

No it won’t actually be the color blue, although that would be cool.
It’s the 2nd full moon 🌕 in a calendar month and it’s very rare...

Hence the saying “every once in a blue moon”
I never knew that!

I’m not an astrologer I just used the thing kids call Google.
But it was pretty interesting because it said that a few planets are in retrograde and in combo with this blue moon that we should just chill tonight because the energy is supposed to be intense and chaotic 😱

So today was a chill day for me and I’m about to watch Halloweeny movies while I enjoy my

📖 Age 13: I finished my 1st whole book CATCHER IN THE RYE by JD Salinger {too old compared to most}
🏌️‍♀️Age 17: I missed qualifying for the US Open {golf} by 1 stroke but beat a couple LPGA golfers, still saw it as failure
💔 Age 21: lost my dad to cancer
💔 Age 25: lost my mom to cancer
🎥 Age 26: sold a screenplay to a Hollywood studio with my best friend @rachelmcclardwrites
💪 Age 28: became a personal trainer at Equinox as a temporary gig, didn’t think I’d be a trainer for long
🙄 Age 30: thought yoga & bodyweight training was dumb, Really? I was naive... Mainly did traditional strength training & HIIT
🧘‍♀️ Age 33: started doing yoga & animal flow 5 times a week!
📸 Age 33: started doing fitness modeling when I was more comfortable BEHIND the camera
🕉 Age 34: became Yoga certified teacher & Animal Flow certified instructor {those are 2 separate certs btw}
🤸‍♀️ Age 36: held a handstand for 3 seconds for the 1st time!
🔥 Age 37: launched my 1st online program {considered older in my field}
😊 Age 41: have launched 5 online programs & an app, still not sure where I’m going next but believe EVERYTHING is great even when it’s not... Why?? The other choice sucks & I’m adventurous!

But the point is Life and it’s lessons happens to us at different ages.
Age is truly just a number.
Some days it’s easier to understand than others.
It how you interact with what the Universe throws at you that matters.
So Fail often, don’t take yourself so seriously, and enjoy the wins!!

Life is more simple than we make it. And we get to build mental muscle for our physical and spiritual growth.

Care more about your reputation with yourself instead of others.
Now that’s not a hall pass to be a selfish prick but it’s a permission slip to learn to admire your own awesomeness.

How you perceive yourself will be the driver of how you live your life and how others perceive you.

And if you can’t admire yourself, your admiration for others will always carry a touch of saltiness.

How we perceive others mirrors how we relate to ourselves, sometimes it positive and brilliant... Sometimes negative and bruising.

Your repeated thoughts and actions are who you are.
What you do becomes your identity and how you do it is your integrity.

Change is inevitable so be patient and the only thing you have to do is find alignment within for change to feel natural.

And it’s always a work in progress.
I’m just like you,
I get down on myself.
I get up on myself too!
Just like consistency in movement and exercise...
The mind and spirit muscles gotta be consistent too.

Btw, I’m doing a diagonal lunge in this pic... front leg straight & back leg bent with rotational reach... Yes, it was hard at 1st. But consistency in mobility and strength patterns got me there. Also when I don’t practice it’s hard again... Consistency is a real thing.
