I'm still trying to process this...when I heard the news yesterday...I didn't hit me, I guess somehow I was still hoping for it to be a dream, fake news or something that meant him and all of those people that perished in that accident were still alive and well.
Today the reality slapped me in the face and it became apparent that it's a reality. I'm saddened because he was an inspiration to many, he was a mentor to others, someone worthy of emulation. I never knew him personally, I did have the privilege to see him in person a few times at the restaurant I used to work at when the Lakers were still playing in the Forum of Inglewood. He was the first athlete my age that made me realize..."Wow, he is my age and he's playing Professional basketball and has already done more that what I have done." That taught me that if you stand still life and people will pass you by.
He's sudden departure yet again leaves us a reminder that life is fragile, one day you are here, and in the blink of eye we can be gone. Always be good, be a light to others, love as much as possible and tell the people around you how much they mean to you, how much you love them. Tomorrow is never promised.
