How to do speech therapy in the most effective way?
It can be fun, just use the tools and prepare a plan! ❤️
1️⃣If your child struggles with pronouncing certain sounds, start by emphasizing and learning how to say words with the corresponding sound.💪 For instance, if ‘f’ sounds are not articulated properly, start adding in words with ‘f’ sounds in everyday conversations.
Add words like fish or roof into sentences. Include speech sounds exercises from Miogym into your daily practice!
2️⃣Goal-setting is essential for the success of speech therapy at home. Without goals, you and your child have nothing to work toward 🚀The point of goal-setting is to set small obtainable goals he or she is capable of achieving.💪
3️⃣Sometimes as parents, we try and fill in the gaps in our child’s speech.⭐️You may ask a question, and help your child answer the same question.
Instead, after you ask a question, give a long pause in the conversation to allow your child the opportunity to answer. These pauses in conversation will give your child time to understand the words and opinions that have meaning and matter to you!🙌
4️⃣Try different things! You may want to try play activities that target language, or do that with everyday chores like making lunch or taking a bath. 😍You can set routines like morning singing, and evening reading that will be fun but also beneficial to your toddler. What is your child's attention span? 🙂
Toddlers don't usually have a very long attention span, so you should keep that in mind when planning your Miogym’s routine. 🤩
Experts use a general rule of thumb when calculating the average attention spans of children. They multiply the child's age with 2 and 5 to get the range of a child's attention span in minutes. 👩⚕️👨👦👦
▫️2-year-old's attention span will range between 4 and 10 minutes.
▫️3-years 6-15 minutes
▫️4 years 8-20 minutes
▫️5 years 10-25 minutes.
EVERY child is different, so the actual attention span will depend on each individual child🙌🏻
The good news ➡️ practising just 5 minutes per day helps a lot!
Repetition helps kids understand better, remember more, and imitate faster. ❤️
