Malandro N'Motion is a very dynamic, diverse, and creative dance company based in LA that authentically performs Rio's Samba de Malandro, Gafieira, and various styles of this unique form of dance, Samba!

It's Not About Pretty Workshop!
Hosted by choreographers Vannia Ibarguen, Mallory Fabian and Brigette Dunn-Korpela , the "It's Not About Pretty" Workshop includes three unique classes for all dancers!

Saturday November 17th, 12:30pm-5pm
* Ballet with Vannia Ibarguen: 12:30-1:45pm
* Horton Fusion with Brigette Dunn : 2:00-3:15pm
* Improv and Composition Techniques with Mallory Fabian: 3:30-4:45pm

“It’s Not About Pretty” is a collaborative performance project uniting three Los Angeles based female choreographers of color. The idea emerged from a shared desire for a collective platform for diverse voices within the Los Angeles professional dance community as a way to promote equality, inclusion and artistic support. For the artists, this is an opportunity for raw and authentic work to inspire conversation around race, gender, body image, identity, environment and cultural context, and a timely call to action for audiences and artists alike. Each choreographer will share their aesthetic approaches with a 20-minute piece, followed by a Q&A engaging the audience in a discussion of these compelling works.

Why are the events held on GRASS! Last summer and this summer these dance events are on grass and the crowds are not as large and enjoyable as two years ago. It is not easy and more effort to dance on grass (and why are we killing grass in a park with our dancing feet?) All that cement throughout the park and we have to dance on grass? Come on! Dance floors/areas should be grass free!
