Golf Talk… We need to talk.

As a group that is based off of black culture, inspired by a black man, who most of us know from a black collective, we felt due diligence to speak up on the BlackLIvesMatter movement, and how you, 24,000 voices, can help.

If you didn’t know, the BlackLivesMatter movement started in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer, with the aim of eradicating white supremacy.

Recently in the US George Floyd was murdered as a direct result of the inhumane police brutality that is perpetuated by a culture of white supremacy. This instantly sparked nationwide and eventually worldwide protests in calls for justice for George Floyd and thousands of other black people who have been beaten, burnt, suffocated, gaslighted and ultimately killed just for the colour of their skin.

As a group based on inclusion, a group that doesn’t judge and encourages expression of personality and love through clothes, music and more, we need to all stand in solidarity with our black community, for there would be no GolfTalk without them. There would be no Tyler, no hip-hop, no food, dance and music and we could go on forever. Let’s face it, the world would be a pretty bleak place without black lives, influence and culture, so until ALL black lives matter, not all lives matter.

WHAT CAN YOU DO:

There are still hundreds of petitions that haven’t fulfilled their goals yet and these are imperative for the foreseeable change we are witnessing. Each one takes 20 seconds, and will help further a cause in ways much more impactful than you may think. We have a start of a collection of resources that WITH YOUR HELP we will expand and hopefully be able to be a real force for change.

PROTESTS

We’d like to also say something regarding the protests happening wherever you are in the world. This is a joint effort, and we NEED as many people doing the RIGHT thing as possible, which is PEACEFUL protesting. A war won by bloodshed and violence will only achieve a similar response but on a much higher, systematic level. We know you’re angry, we know there’s justice that needs to be served, and the ONLY long term solution to this IS peaceful protesting. We’d also like to remind you that we are still in the midst of a global viral pandemic, so please observe social distancing, practice self-hygiene and march until your voice has gone, then march some more.

FINALLY we also want to ask if anyone is selling anything (doesn’t have be Tyler related) where donations are being made to the BlackLivesMatter movement from profits, and we will promote your business on our page for free, either on this post or another. Just message one of the admin team who will confirm legitimacy and any other transparency of donations.
