When Jackson arrives at our American Cancer Society Discovery Shop/West Los Angeles CA location he gets right to work, dusting, sweeping, taking out the recycling, checking and pricing DVDs and CDs. He enjoys playing with his tech deck when he takes a well-deserved break. He aspires to learn and volunteer as a cashier, so he also makes sure to get some time on the sales floor to further develop his customer service skills!

Love this little Animated Short about inclusion on the playground ❤

TheCGBros Presents "Ian" by Mundoloco CGI Ian Foundation - He was born with cerebral palsy. All he wants is to make friends, although it seems impossible to achieve when discrimination and bullying keep him away from his beloved playground. Do you ever wonder why a child is having a specific behavior? Well you can analyze the behavior to figure out the function, the why, behind the behavior! For general knowledge, there are 4 different functions behind the appearance of a behavior; sensory, escape, attention or tangible. As BCBAs and RBTs, we can analyze the behavior to find the function and instead teach appropriate behavior.

Up to 92% of all communication is nonverbal. Experts have found that everyday we respond to thousands of nonverbal cues and behaviors including postures, facial expressions, eye gaze, gestures, and tone of voice.
All of these nonverbal communications can be difficult to recognize and understand for those who have autism but can be learned through practice!
•••
Nonverbal communications can also include PECS (pictures exchange communication system), AACs, (augmentative and alternative communication), and sign language!
