P6 to end August on a high note!

This picture pretty much sums up our night. We started off the day with pretty good speed in practice and went 8th fastest. In qualifying we picked up another tenth which wasn’t as much as we were looking for and ended up 8th again by .001 seconds. 5th-8th were separated by less than a tenth. For the feature we had good speed and I was excited to get back to a shorter sprint style race instead of a longer marathon like we have ran the last few times out. We were able to get up to 6th about halfway through the race chasing 4th and 5th which we did nose to tail for about 25+ laps. We were quicker than the two cars in front of us, but could never seal the deal on a pass and it wasn’t for lack of effort. I tried every lane imaginable at Salem and just couldn’t get enough of a run to get them both. Overall, a really good points day for us and with every lap I’m more and more comfortable in the car. We’ll see everyone again for a busy day September 12th. Thanks again to everyone who helps make this possible!

The rain strikes again… 0/3 in the last few weeks. See everyone September 12th!

With a forecast of 80% chance of rain on Saturday with possible severe storms and 70% chance of rain on Sunday we are going to go ahead and cancel this weekend's racing activities on Saturday and Sunday. Neither event will be rescheduled. The next racing event at The Salem Speedway Motorplex will be the Joe James/Pat O'Connor Memorial on Saturday, August 15th. The next The Salem Speedway Legendary Kart Club event will be on Sunday, August 23rd.

First Firecracker 100🇺🇸✅

Well we got to experience all the highs and lows of racing. After making some changes since the last race we used practice to shake down the car which felt good. We threw on new tires and qualified 9th out of 32 cars and felt confident with what we had. Once the green flag dropped the plan was to fall in line and ride around to save our tires in order to try and race at the end which went well for the first 45 laps. After a restart we got caught up in the “big one” but we’re able to pull away with minor body damage and a tore up right rear tire. After getting the tire changed we were able to restart 12th and still felt good with what we had. Around 10-15 laps later after several restarts while running 9th we were put into the fence all the way down the backstretch and into turn 3 by a lapped car. Again, after getting the nose zip tied back on and making sure nothing was rubbing we were able to get the car back out and make laps until the end managing to finish 10th through some attrition. It was an unfortunate second half of the race, but ended as a decent points day and still walked away with a top 10. Although the car isn’t as straight or pretty as it once was we’ll be back at The Salem Speedway on August 1st for the Back to School Bash! Thank you to everyone who helps make this possible!

Another long weekend the books. After a long day with Kimmel Racing in Michigan we got home around 1:30am Saturday morning. Started practice on old tires and battled a really free race car all day and ended up 16th on the board. Qualifying has been a bit of an Achilles heel this year for me, but we threw on new tires and qualified 10th of 26 with a time of 22.38 our quickest qualifying time yet! During the race we were able to get up to 8th and thought we were in position to ride around and try to save the tires. Around the halfway mark is when the fun began. The Right rear tire began to come apart and we were wrecking loose just trying to survive. We ended up finishing 12th after everything. Shoutout to Will Kimmel for spotting and helping ease the learning curve. Thank you again to everyone who helps make this possible we’ll be ready for the Firecracker 100 July 3rd!
