The hunt of my dreams! - I’ve been the beneficiary of a lot of other peoples hard work in the offseason and think it’s important to make sure with the help of get the credit they deserve. From planting food sources, building pits, managing water levels, and hunting pressure, Henry has lead by example of what waterfowl management is all about. We tried it a couple years ago, and it’s hard and we failed. However, surround yourself with people that are better at things than you, and eventually you’ll pick up on a few things. Blessed to have found myself chasing birds across the country this past season with such an intense group. Invest in people and relationships, I’d guess it will take you further than that guides fee 😬

28 gauge w/ a stud of a greenhead for the last duck of the season , a perfect way to wrap up this season. I have wanted to shoot a duck with the 28 gauge all season, but the opportunity just hasn’t presented itself. One shot and one kill later, I think underestimated this beast. It’s been a fun finish!

Cold weather has them finally acting right
Got to the spot the day before and slept in the truck. Put around 850 miles on truck, all with a boat. Hard work paid off with a 7 man banger for 28th birthday.

Skunked on both Saturday and Sunday, but we won round 3 yesterday. Stuck out this cold weather for 3 straight days and it finally paid off.

First time to the prairie pot holes certainly didn’t disappoint with 15 different species hitting the ground during this trip. From big flocks of mallards and pinny’s in dry fields, divers buzzing the spread 2 ft off the water from a mile out, gadwall coming over a knoll and bombing the spread appearing out of nowhere during a fun 2 man buddy hunt, and even a few snows over the water we got a taste of it all. Fantastic dog work made shooting just the beginning of the fun. However, shooting into 40 mph gusts is where I seemed to find my max as I wasted Lord knows how much ammo before finally seeing one go down.
While we got unlucky with warm weather, I enjoyed shooting them in the evenings in a t shirt. Divers and sloughs took the brunt of it, but no doubt we will be back for some more dry field action. Freelancing is hard no other way around it, and I Appreciate this group of guys for letting us tag along!

Early September vibes - Grown men cheesing ear to ear when our type of jewelry is involved.

I had dreamed of this moment for years, it felt good to finally be in it. Drank my (still hot) coffee and listened to the world wake up.

Been chasing these birds for 8 years and this morning I finally got the monkey off my back. After getting beat by em all day yesterday, this morning I set out on a solo mission, got him off the roost and was home in time for early church! Nothing but respect for these birds and the hunters that relentlessly pursue them.
8 years ago after a concert for my 20th bday, threw me in the back of the car and took me on my first Turkey hunt the following morning. Over the years we have had an insane amount of close encounters, including a wiff earlier this season and another opportunity within 60 yards yesterday, we just hadn’t been able to seal the deal. Pumped to finally win a round 👊🏻

Picked a few green boys from the ice hole before work this morning.
Found enough birds yesterday to temp us, developed a plan and gave it a shot. Right at shooting light a 4 pack circled 3 or 4 times. We could have shot them on pass 3, but we opted for the grand finale. The result, an amazing Kentucky sunrise backlighting mallards taking an elevator straight down inside 20 yards. This one will fill my dreams through the off season that’s looming just around the corner. Haven’t hunted a good sunrise since October, this one will go down as one of my favorite hunts throughout this season.

Cold front brought in new birds like it was supposed to. In the last week we have bagged Mallards, Gadwall, black ducks, widgeon, Goldeneye and even a few mergs and ruddy ducks 😂. Missed on opportunities to add buffleheads and blue bills to that list. For our neck of the woods, that’s the definition of a migration! As always, plenty of mistakes were made and we always try and learn from em!
