🚨 PSA says it intercepted more than $200 MILLION worth of fake trading cards and tickets in 2025.
And counterfeiters aren’t just targeting million-dollar grails anymore.
According to PSA’s new fraud report, fake cards are now flooding every level of the hobby, from vintage icons to modern rookies, mid-tier cards, Pokémon cards, and even widely available inserts.
The most counterfeited card by volume was the iconic 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie.
PSA says counterfeit submissions jumped more than 45% year-over-year, with altered cards also surging. Some of the biggest targets included:
• 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle ⚾
• 1984 Star Michael Jordan 🏀
• 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan 🏀
• Tom Brady rookies 🏈
One of the wildest stats in the report: PSA says 12 of the 13 T206 Honus Wagner cards submitted in 2025 were counterfeit.
The company believes better printing technology, soaring card prices, and a wave of newer collectors have all contributed to the rise in fakes.
They also revealed it’s now using massive AI imaging databases and advanced measurements to catch altered and counterfeit cards before they hit the market.
