Heavy lifting can cause pains in your muscles, joints and tendons for some individuals. One way I use to avoid this is by changing the intensity of my routine. Some examples of doing this would be:

1. Using lighter weights and slow down the movement tempo.
2. Shortening your rest periods in between sets.
3. Performing drop sets (starting with a weight on the heavier side and work your way down the rack or resistance band color doing anywhere from 1-10 reps per pound.)
4. Work a same muscle group back to back with no rest. Ex. A shoulder press you can do 6-12 reps with immediately followed by a lighter resistance side lateral raise.

Also this method of training can break a plateau you might be having šŸ˜‰. Keep it up! Consistently pays off!!!

Quick Tip!
A warmup before any workout is essential. Activities like walking, jumping rope, marching in place and bike riding to name a few... performed for 5-10 minutes at least will improve your exercise performance. Muscles, ligaments and tendons need to be warm and ready in order to prevent injuries and decrease muscle stiffness...... this prepares your body for the activities that your about to do. Now get moving!!

A weight loss program should never be called a diet......what and ugly word!
To me, a diet signifies a change that’s temporary. If someone wants to lose weight, the first thing to consider is all the bad habits that caused the weight gain in the first place. Dieting can cause unwanted results like muscle loss, otherwise known as cannibalization. Also, restricting calorie intake can negatively affect your metabolism to where your body gets confused. By continuing to not eat enough calories, overtime, the body will begin to burn slower thus gain even more body fat than it once had when old eating habits are resumed.
Establish a plan!
1. Healthier/ permanent lifestyle changes.
2. Follow a healthy eating plan in order to achieve your weight loss goal. A plan that doesn’t keep changing your eating patterns. ( like skipping meals)
3. The plan is 5 meals daily.. breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner... each meal is a combination of a protein, a carbohydrate, and a fat. Women should eat 1200-1500 calories daily and men should eat 1500-2000 calories per day.
4. A healthy nutrition plan to safely reach and keep your goal includes a 1-2 lb fat loss weekly and a consistent exercise program.

You got this!

Always consider the two main reasons for adding variety within your fitness program....
getting bored and a plateau. Working out consistently takes a lot of self motivation. Without an enjoyable exercise routine, sticking to a weekly regimen can be challenging. If variety is absent, not only will you get bored, so will your body. Your body needs to be challenged to make changes. Taking yourself out of the comfort zone will prevent it from plateauing. Try pushing yourself more at every workout. If a particular exercise has become easy, make it harder. Start by adding more resistance and doing less reps or make the exercise unstable by using a balance trainer to recruit more muscle fibers. Perform cardio by doing interval training 2-3 times a week instead of just steady state exertion and don’t forget to include different core exercises. For example, if you typically do planks on your knees, advance to your toes then try increasing the amount of time you do them.
Become a better you.....work hard to get what you want! Give your routine a push with different exercises and intensity levels. Stay focused and excited about working out regularly and seeing results! Work hard and don’t stop no matter what!
