You hired a team... but somehow you're busier than ever.

You hired people because you couldn't keep doing everything yourself.

But now you're managing the team and still doing the work.

You're answering their questions.

Reviewing what they completed.

Fixing what wasn't right.

Jumping in when someone gets behind.

Handling the client issue because it's faster than explaining it.

And this week, with October 15th staring you in the face, you're probably doing whatever needs to be done just to get everything out the door.

So you start wondering:
Wasn't having a team supposed to make this easier?

Yes.

But here's something we don't talk about enough.

Your team can't create capacity your business can't afford.

If your client work isn't producing enough margin to support the people and capacity needed to deliver it, someone still has to absorb the difference.

And a lot of the time...
that's you.

That's why pricing isn't just about deciding what a client should pay.

It's also about asking:
Does this price support what it takes for my firm to deliver this work without depending on me to fill the gaps?

That's a very different pricing conversation.

And it's exactly what we're going to talk about in my free live masterclass:

How Accounting Firm Owners Can Build More Profit Without Adding More Clients, Hours, or Work

Doing nothing is still a pricing decision.

I've been thinking about this a lot this week.

We tend to think of a pricing decision as something we actively do.

Raise the price.

Change the scope.

Add a fee.

Let a client go.

But there's another pricing decision we don't talk about nearly as much.

Doing nothing.

You know the client is underpriced.

You know the scope has grown.

You know your team is spending more time on the work than what you're charging supports.

You know if that exact client walked through your door today, you wouldn't take them at that price.

But changing it feels uncomfortable.

So you leave it alone.

And because you didn't do anything, it doesn't really feel like you made a decision.

But you did.

You decided to keep doing the work at the current price.

You decided to keep absorbing the additional scope.

You decided your firm would carry the cost a little longer.

And sometimes that's absolutely the right decision.

Maybe there's a relationship you want to protect.

Maybe the timing isn't right.

Maybe there are other factors that make keeping the current price a legitimate business decision.

But I want you to know why you're waiting.

Because:
“I've looked at the numbers and decided this isn't the right time.”

is very different from:
“I really don't want to have that conversation.”

One is a business decision.

The other might just be avoidance dressed up like one.

So here's something to think about:
What pricing decision are you making right now by doing nothing?

This is my last post about Price the Firm You Want.

We start tomorrow.

And after today, I'm going to stop talking about this cohort and get to work with the firm owners who decided it was time to do something about their pricing.

But before I do, I want to say one more thing.

If you've been reading these posts and thinking:

“I know I need to do something about my pricing...”

Maybe you've known for a while.

You know which clients you're doing too much for.

You know where the scope and price stopped matching.

You know which conversations you've been avoiding.

You know you need more profit if you're going to create the capacity you keep saying you need.

And maybe you've been telling yourself you'll deal with it after the next deadline.

At some point, “I know I need to do this” has to become “I'm doing it.”
If that time is now, let's talk.

Price the Firm You Want is an 8-week Pricing Implementation Cohort starting tomorrow.

We're accepting a maximum of 10 firms.

The investment is $3,000.

And because this isn't something you can just click a button and buy, we need to have a Pricing Strategy Call first.

We'll talk about your firm, what's happening with your pricing, what you're trying to change and whether this is the right place to work on it.

If it's not, I'll tell you.
If it is, we'll talk about joining us.

I'll put the Pricing Strategy Call link in the comments.

And if you've decided this isn't the right time?

We're still good.
Seriously.

I'm done talking about this cohort after today.

But don't stop noticing the things that made you pay attention to these posts in the first place.

Notice the work you're doing that you're not getting paid for.

Notice when the scope keeps growing but the price doesn't.

Notice the client you would never take at their current price today.

Notice when the answer to every capacity or profitability problem becomes:

More clients.
More hours.
More work.

Those are clues.

You don't have to solve all of it today.

Just don't stop noticing it.
And when you're ready to do something about it, we'll be here.

“I can't reprice all my existing clients. They'll leave.”Maybe.Some might.But before we decide that's true...Are you act...
10/23/2026

“I can't reprice all my existing clients. They'll leave.”

Maybe.

Some might.

But before we decide that's true...

Are you actually planning to reprice every client?

Because I'm not telling you to do that.

This is where I think pricing conversations get oversimplified.

“Raise your prices.”

Okay... on whom?

By how much?

For what work?

What if the scope is the real problem?

What if this is a great client who just needs a different service level?

What if they're already priced correctly?

What if they're taking up so much capacity that even a higher price wouldn't make them a client you want to keep?

What if losing a few clients actually creates room for better ones?
And what if the client you're terrified will leave... doesn't?

We don't know yet.

That's the point.

There are a lot of things I hear accounting firm owners tell themselves before they've actually made the decision:

My clients won't pay that.

They've been with me forever.

I can't raise them that much at once.

I should wait until January.

I need to get my processes fixed first.

I don't have time to deal with this right now.

I'll lose too many clients.

And one of my personal favorites:

“They're already paying me enough.”

That one cost me more than $100,000 in work I did and never charged for.
Here's what I want you to notice:

Those statements might contain real information.

Or they might be assumptions.

That's why I'm not teaching people to randomly raise every client's price.

Inside Price the Firm You Want, we're asking better questions.

Does this client belong in the firm you're trying to build?

Does the scope still match what you're charging?

What value are you actually creating?

What does this engagement need to contribute to your business?

And if something needs to change, what's the right change?

Keep them.
Reprice them.
Change the scope.
Transition them.
Monitor them.

Then comes the other hard part:

Actually having the conversation.

Because you can build the perfect new price in a spreadsheet and still talk yourself out of saying it.

That's why we're working on both the business and the human side of pricing.

The numbers matter.

So do the fear, guilt, loyalty, uncertainty and second-guessing that show up when it's time to act.

Price the Firm You Want starts October 27.

We're accepting a maximum of 10 firms.

The investment is $3,000.

And no, I'm not asking you to decide from a social media post whether you should spend $3,000.

Let's have a conversation first.

I'll put the Pricing Strategy Call link in the comments.

Would you take this client today?Think about one of your longtime clients. You know the one. They've been with you for yea...
10/22/2026

Would you take this client today?

Think about one of your longtime clients.

You know the one.

They've been with you for years.

Their business has changed.

The work has grown.

You've added a few things here and there.

They ask more questions than they used to.

And somewhere along the way, what you're doing for them and what they're paying you stopped matching.

Now ask yourself:
If this client walked through your door TODAY, knowing everything you know about them, would you take them at what they're currently paying you?

Don't ask:

Do I like them?
How long have they been with me?
Will they be upset if I change their price?

Ask:
Would I agree to do this work, with this scope, for this price today?

If the answer is no, that's information.

It doesn't automatically mean you need to send them a giant price increase tomorrow.

Maybe the price needs to change.
Maybe the scope needs to change.
Maybe some of the work needs to stop.
Maybe they're no longer the right client for the firm you're trying to build.

But there's one option we tend to forget we're choosing:
Doing nothing is still a decision.

Inside Price the Firm You Want, we're going to look at your actual client relationships and make intentional decisions:

Keep.
Reprice.
Change Scope.
Transition.
Monitor.

Not because every client needs a price increase.

Because your client base and your pricing need to support the firm you're actually trying to build.

So here's today's question:
Did a client immediately come to mind when you read this?

You don't have to name them. 😂

Just tell me YES in the comments.

And if you're ready to actually do something about that client, we're accepting 10 firms into Price the Firm You Want, starting October 27.

I'll put the Pricing Strategy Call link in the comments.

You probably don't need another person telling you to raise your prices.

Most accounting firm owners I talk to already know when something isn't working.

The harder questions are:
What does my firm actually need to earn?
How many clients do I really want to serve?
Does my pricing support the team and capacity I say I want?
Which clients still make sense for the firm I'm building?
Where am I doing work I'm not getting paid for?
And what should I actually charge?

But even when you figure all of that out, there's still another step:
You have to actually do something about it.

Change the price.
Change the scope.
Have the conversation.
Maybe even let a client go.

That's why we're opening 10 spots in Price the Firm You Want, our 8-week Pricing Implementation Cohort starting October 27.

This isn't eight weeks of me telling you that you should charge more.

We're going to work through your actual:
Clients.
Numbers.
Scope.
Pricing.
Conversations.

Because the goal isn't to know more about pricing.

The goal is to make the decisions you've been putting off and actually implement them.

And because we're doing that kind of work, I'm intentionally keeping this cohort small.

There's no checkout button.

The first step is a Pricing Strategy Call so we can talk about what's happening in your firm, what you're trying to change, and whether this is the right place for you to work on it.

If it's not, I'll tell you.
If it is, we'll talk about joining us.

I'll put the link to book a Pricing Strategy Call in the comments.

Sometimes the win starts before the client ever says yes. 👏

Jamie pushed herself outside of her comfort zone, challenged what she believed she could charge, and went after a client at her highest price to date.

Then came the yes.
Cleanup work + ongoing monthly services.

And a $4,000 down payment check in hand. 🎉

But my favorite part of what Jamie said was this:
“I am worth it!!!”

Because THAT shift matters.

Better pricing isn’t only about learning how to calculate a number. Sometimes it means getting out of your own way, understanding the value you provide, and having the confidence to actually ask for it.

That’s a big part of what we’re going to talk about during our FREE Pricing Masterclass on October 20th.

Ready to rethink what’s possible with your pricing?

What would have to change before next tax season?

Not so you can survive it again.

You already know you can do that.
You've proven that.

I mean what would have to change so your firm doesn't need so much of you next time?

Maybe you need more capacity.

Maybe your team needs to be able to own more without everything coming back to you.

Maybe there are clients you're doing far too much for.

Maybe the firm needs more profit so you can actually afford the people and systems you've been saying you need.

Maybe you're simply tired of being the answer every time the business runs out of time, money or capacity.

Whatever it is, here's what I don't want you to do:
Forget what the last few weeks showed you.

Because the deadline ends.
The pressure lifts.
You catch up.

And pretty soon, the things that felt completely unsustainable two weeks ago start feeling normal again.

Until the next deadline.

That's the cycle I want to interrupt today.

At 12 PM Eastern, I'm teaching:

How Accounting Firm Owners Can Build More Profit Without Adding More Clients, Hours, or Work

And yes, we're going to talk about pricing.

But we're not starting with:
“What should I charge?”

Because the number isn't the beginning of the pricing decision.
It's the end.

We're going to look at what comes before it and how those decisions ultimately affect the profit, capacity and options you have inside your firm.

📅 TODAY — October 20
⏰ 12 PM Eastern | 11 AM Central

If you're ready to build a firm that works better without requiring more and more of you, come join me.
