Last, but certainly not least, our baby Ankor Vivian Wanjing “Vau’Maírazhên” #160 💜⚓️
Vivi’s a junior studying Environmental Engineering and Environmental Studies, with certificates in Engineering for Energy Sustainability and Leadership.
My goals in life are driven by my passion for environmental engineering and my desire to make a meaningful impact in communities that lack equitable access to resources like clean water and energy. Growing up between Rio de Janeiro and New York City shaped my awareness of these disparities and motivates me to work at the intersection of engineering, sustainability, and justice. I aspire to develop solutions that are not only innovative but also practical and community-centered, particularly in renewable energy and water treatment. Through my research in agrivoltaics, I aim to improve how we use land, water, and energy more efficiently and sustainably. Whether I pursue graduate school or enter industry, I hope to contribute to large-scale sustainability projects that create real, lasting impact. I also want to stay committed to mentorship, outreach, and uplifting diverse voices in STEM. I see environmental knowledge and education as powerful tools for change, and I hope to use mine to support communities, expand access to essential resources, and help build a more just and sustainable future. 🌱🌎
I chose SLG because it embodies the kind of community I have always been searching for, one rooted in multiculturalism, empowerment, and a strong commitment to uplifting others. I never saw myself reflected in traditional Greek life, but meeting sibs completely shifted that perspective. I was in a space where being Brazilian, Chinese, and an immigrant was celebrated with pride. SLG builds intentional spaces where identity, service, and siblinghood come together to empower women to lead boldly and authentically. The strength, resilience, and ambition I saw in sibs and how they carry themselves purposefully while uplifting those around them drew me in. It was powerful, and it’s just what inspires me to grow, lead, and become the most KommandinG version of myself.

Next up our baby Heart Miri Villegas Alvarez #159 🩷💗
Miri is a freshman majoring in Political Science.📚
Goals in Life: I hope to be able to fully take care of my family in the future. I hope to go to law school after finishing my bachelor’s and go into immigration law or environmental law. I want to be able to help people and create a space where people feel safe.
Interest: Painting, drawing, tennis, embroidery, swimming
Fun Fact: I have 10 cats and 3 dogs🐾
Why SLG? I joined Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. because I wanted to be surrounded by driven and caring individuals, who strived both academically and socially within their communities. I knew I wanted to be a part of this organization because I aligned with the five principales, and I specifically admired the strong focus on cultural awareness and the allyship to lgbtq+ students. Inclusivity is very important to me, specifically in multicultural spaces, SLG provided a welcoming community in which both culture and queerness could not only co-exist but be celebrated. This organization demonstrates what a thriving community should be, having an uplifting space in which every member is encouraged to keep growing everyday. I joined SLG because I knew it would provide me with a space of determined and thoughtful individuals who I could count on and improve myself with, a community that strives to help others and make the world a better place.🩷

Fun Fact: I A fun about me is that in my junior of high school, my school offered a study abroad program during spring break, so I went to Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and Monaco in the span of 9 days!
Why SLG? I joined SLG because I truly see it as a sibling hood where individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, and experiences are valued, uplifted, and celebrated. It stood out to me as a space where I could not only belong, but also grow into the best version of myself alongside its members who share similar values and passions. Additionally, I always admired the strong dedication to community service and academics. My experiences with community service have greatly shaped me and taught me how to support people in meaningful ways, and I look forward to becoming even more involved within the community with SLG. With academics, it’s always been a value I hold close to my heart, especially as a first-generation student. Education is truly so powerful, especially in changing the trajectories of our families and communities, and SLG has always demonstrated their commitment to having academic support and striving for intellectual growth among its members. I also loved how SLG has always encouraged and motivated me to be empowering, confident, and true to myself.💗
