The fastest way to lose your team's trust? Pretend you've never struggled.

Many leaders believe they have to appear flawless.

The opposite is usually true.

People don't connect with perfection.

They connect with authenticity.

At your next meeting, try saying:

"Here's something I learned the hard way this week."

That one sentence can create psychological safety, invite honest conversations, and build trust faster than pretending you've got it all figured out.

Humility doesn't weaken leadership.

It strengthens it.

What if the pressure you’re feeling isn’t coming from God?

You want the client now.

The revenue now.

The opportunity now.

The confirmation now.

And when it doesn’t happen, you start trying to manufacture an outcome.

That’s when obedience can quietly turn into striving.

Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”

Trust doesn’t mean sitting around doing nothing.

It means taking responsibility for what God has placed in your hands without trying to control what only He can control.

You can make the call.

You can send the proposal.

You can serve the client.

You can improve your business.

You can show up with excellence.

But you can’t force God’s timing.

So here’s a question worth sitting with today.

**Where are you trying to control an outcome when God is asking you to steward an assignment?**

Your business might not have a motivation problem.

It might have a rhythm problem.

If you only market when you feel inspired, follow up when you remember, sell when revenue gets tight, and work on systems when something breaks, you’re forcing your business to run on emotion.

That’s exhausting.

And it makes your results unpredictable.

Consistency changes that.

Think about your business like a heartbeat. Healthy businesses need regular, predictable actions that continue whether you feel motivated or not.

Ask yourself, **what are the three actions that actually move my business forward every week?**

Not twenty.

Three.

Maybe it’s creating valuable content.

Maybe it’s having sales conversations.

Maybe it’s following up with prospects.

Maybe it’s improving one process.

Choose them. Schedule them. Repeat them.

You don’t need to feel motivated every Monday. You need rhythms that keep working when motivation doesn’t.

A slow month can reveal what you’ve been using to determine your worth.

That’s uncomfortable, but it matters.

When business is growing, it’s easy to feel confident.

When clients are coming in, revenue is increasing, and people are responding, you feel like you’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing.

Then things get quiet.

Suddenly you’re wondering if you’re qualified.

You question whether God really called you.

You look at somebody else’s success and wonder why you’re so far behind.

Your business results have quietly become your identity.

Philippians 1:6 reminds us that “he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.”

Your revenue can change.

Your reach can change.

Your client count can change.

Your identity in Christ doesn’t.

That doesn’t mean ignoring the numbers. Good leaders pay attention to reality. It means you don’t let the numbers tell you who you are.

You planted the seed last week. Why are you already questioning the harvest?

That’s how a lot of us approach business.

We publish the content and immediately check the views.

We make the offer and immediately watch the sales.

We change the strategy and expect immediate traction.

Then when nothing happens quickly enough, we start questioning ourselves, our strategy, and sometimes even God.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

There’s a planting season.

There’s a growing season.

And there’s a harvesting season.

The problem is that we often try to measure a planting season with harvest season expectations.

Maybe you don’t need to quit.

Maybe you don’t need another strategy.

Maybe you need to keep planting the right seeds long enough for roots to develop.

Ask yourself this today.

What am I tempted to abandon simply because it hasn’t produced quickly enough?

Slow results can convince you to abandon the right vision too early.

That’s dangerous.

Because when you’ve invested the time, money, prayer, energy, and effort and still don’t see the growth you expected, the question changes.

You stop asking, “What should I improve?”

And you start asking, “Should I quit?”

Those are two very different questions.

An early lack of results doesn’t automatically mean the vision is wrong. Sometimes it means the vision needs more time, better ex*****on, or simply your continued commitment.

That’s why perseverance matters.

Don’t allow today’s numbers to have more authority over your future than they deserve.

Evaluate what’s working. Learn. Adjust when wisdom tells you to adjust. But don’t confuse slow progress with a failed assignment.

Obedience over outcome.

If you’re in a season where you’re questioning whether to keep going, comment “KEEP GOING.” I’d love to know this message found the person who needed it.

What if God asks you to build while the sky is still clear?

That’s the part of obedience we don’t talk about enough.

Noah didn’t get the luxury of seeing the rain before deciding whether God’s instructions made sense. He had to move while the outcome was still invisible.

And Christian business owners face a version of that tension too.

You believe God gave you the vision.

You’re doing the work.

You’re staying consistent.

But there’s still no rain.

No breakthrough.

No evidence that everything you’re building is actually going to work.

That’s where obedience gets tested.

It’s easy to trust God after the door opens. Faith is required when you’re still standing in front of a closed one.

So don’t automatically interpret a lack of visible results as a lack of God’s activity.

Sometimes obedience is preparing you for something you can’t see yet.

An employee who challenges you isn’t always the problem.

Sometimes they’re exposing one.

The question is whether they’re challenging your authority or challenging the way you’re leading.

There’s a difference.

Before you label someone as difficult, defensive, or disrespectful, get curious.

Ask:

“Help me understand what you’re seeing that I may be missing.”

Then listen.

If there’s wisdom in what they’re saying, own it.

If their behavior is undermining the team, address it clearly and set the expectation.

Strong leadership doesn’t mean avoiding challenges to your authority.

It means having enough confidence to listen, enough wisdom to discern, and enough courage to lead.

Leadership begins with leading yourself.
