Introducing Gavin (they/them)! Gavin’s favorite style of climbing includes flowy, coordination moves and their favorite outdoor crags are Red Rocks, NV, and Squamish, B.C. Gavin’s passion for climbing extends to their choice of pets- they have a gecko named Clif!

Meet today’s featured Flight of the Phoenix setter: Steffi (she/her)! Steffi can get stoked on techy sport climbing or really punchy, overhung bouldering. Off the wall, you’re likely to find Steffi hanging with her 5-year-old black cat, Boo. Be sure to sign up for Flight of the Phoenix to climb Steffi and the rest of the setting team’s boulders!

Say hello to our one and only guest setter for Flight of the Phoenix: Asa (they/he)! Asa’s outdoor crag of choice is the Gallery in Red River Gorge. Although new to setting at Boulders, Asa’s already well integrated in the community. In St. Louis, Missouri, Asa lived with Boulders’ coach, Gale!

Introducing the co-head setters for our third annual Flight of the Phoenix competition: Ella and Erin!

Ella (she/her)’s favorite outdoor crag is Frenchman Coullee in Washington State. When she’s not scaling basalt columns you might find Ella chowing down on a tomato, as they’re her second-favorite food.

Erin (she/her) prefers the wingate sandstone cracks of Indian Creek, UT for her outdoor climbing. She’s also a bit of a yahtzee champion, with a PR of 440.

Ella and Erin will be working hard all week with the FotP setting team to put up some incredible comp climbs! If you haven’t signed up yet to compete, click the link in bio!

Downtown closure reminder! Boulders Downtown will be closed from Wednesday (7/16) through Friday (7/18) this week in preparation for the Flight of the Phoenix competition. The pain cave and comp wall areas will additionally be closed beginning on Tuesday (7/15).
This Saturday (7/19), the downtown gym will be hosting Flight of the Phoenix! General climbing will not be available, but all are welcome to compete and/or spectate! Thank you for your understanding, we can’t wait to see you there!

Flight of the Phoenix is for Climbers of ALL skill levels. You don’t need competition experience to come climb and have a great time! Prizes will be awarded to the top competitors in every category!
When registering, you have the opportunity to select Recreational (V0-V2 range), Intermediate (V2-V4 range), Advanced (V4-V6), or Open (V6-V8+ range). Additionally, we will have a Star Chaser category, which allows a climber to climb all routes across all categories.
