This winter marks our 9th annual series featuring races in the Madison area in January and February with a 5k and 10k options at each race. Come for a great workout, wintertime fun, and enjoy some food and drinks after the race with other adventurous runners! Each race will have snowshoe rentals available for $10.

Where: Norman Vethe School Prairie Trails. Cottage Grove, on Taylor Street about 0.5 mile from N. at the intersection of Taylor and Yarrow Hill Rd.
When: Saturday, Jan 28 9am
What: 1.1 mile loop will be marked out. Challenge yourself to do 1, 2, 3, 5?
Why: We haven't had snow in a while and snowshoe can be tough to just pick up. This option gives you a chance to challenge yourself with a goal but have it broken into manageable segments. Also we'll get to see each other more!

What ya see is what ya get tomorrow at McCarthy. It’s mostly all hard packed trail. I did it today in snowshoes but would prob be best in spikes of some sort. Choose what works best for you and come on out to do the 5k course tomorrow morning (9am start).
Head out straight under the trailhead arch and follow the orange markers. Take a left over the bridge for a little loop then back over the bridge and to the left again. Marks are there unless the wind messes with it. When in doubt follow the snowshoe signs which are very well done throughout the park!

The time has come...snowshoe season is nearly upon us again! After plenty of thought, I've decided to keep the Snowshoe Scurry free to remove any barrier from trying this sport. I just love snowshoeing and want to encourage as many people to keep getting outside over winter and give it a try! SO we have some dates, locations and free entry again this year. Drop a few dollars at the end if you'd like to support my efforts/these events, but otherwise please tell your friends and come enjoy the beautiful trails we have here in our area! I'm working on getting rentals and will have the numbers and what's available sorted out here soon. Let me know if you have any questions!
