THIS IS THE OFFICIAL PAGE FOR THE VICKI MCKENNA SHOW. Vicki McKenna is a converted conservative, and reformed Marxist. She graduated Beloit College w/a degree in Communism, and pursued graduate studies at the University of Denver in applied Marxism. After realizing that in order to pay rent, she would probably need an expanded skill set beyond Revolution 101, she decided to embrace her inner-false consciousness and get a job. A sluggish economy at the beginning of the 90s meant she'd have to think outside the box, and realized that her training in Social Justice double speak made her perfectly suited to the world of Media. A few tax returns into her career it occurred to her that perhaps this whole collectivism thing was a whole lot of nonsense, and after a chance encounter w/former Congressman Mark Neuman, she went looking for a book by Milton Friedman at the Beloit Public Library. That is when the fog of socialism parted permnently. Embarrassed by her wasted days of misspent college, and determined to share her wonder at how she could pay so much for a education that taught her so little, she embarked on a career that would help her share the pathway out of economic and political ignorance with others--and the Vicki McKenna Show was born. She's been called a Nazi (not true, she abors Hitler and supports Israel), Atilla the Hun (she confesses to liking this one) and a "self-loathing so-called woman" for daring to reject her college indoctrination, and think differently in the People's Republic of Madison and beyond. But she also knows how true the old cliche is: if they're shooting at you, you're over the target. She's won a bunch of media awards, spoke truth-to-power on all the cable news stations, except MSNBC--because of course not. She likes guns, dogs, birds, veterans and 80s pop culture--and she once got arrested at a U2 concert.

This is ridiculous.

Eric Brooks blew UNDER the legal limit, according to Eau Claire police reports. Yet he was cited with first-offense OWI anyway due to not being able to stand on one leg and generally failing the field test.

For this offense, the left and media have pounced on Eric like a school of frenzied caffeine-fueled piranhas on a Red Bull binge. Frankly, I didn’t even know that was legally possible - to be cited for OWI despite blowing under the .08 legal limit. Did you? He probably thought he was lawfully able to drive.

Some of the posts have been cruel. Knock off the schadenfreude. Enough already. It’s over the top and getting ridiculous. The left is even demanding that Eric lose his school board position over this. That’s ridiculous. He shouldn’t lose his whole career because he blew under the legal limit.

This is from the left who, in some cases, are completely fine with freeing brutal killers early, hobbling or even abolishing the Milwaukee police department, looking the other way when illegal criminals end up in jails, etc. But driving under the legal limit? String him from the public stockade!

Here’s why they’re pouncing:

They’re just using Eric to burn Tom Tiffany in effigy. The Freeman even ran a huge picture of Tiffany. Yeah, Eric has worked on Tiffany’s campaign at a low level, but Tiffany has nothing to do with this.

They’re paying Eric back for being the guy who blocked MJS scribe Mary Spicuzza from entering a Tiffany roundtable because they think she’s biased. I noticed that Spicuzza was one of the first people to repost a liberal blogger’s screed on Brooks’ OWI. Eric didn’t even make that call.

I’ve said it before: is the media’s house clean? It’s not.

They’re also paying Eric back because Eric is a salty guy on social media. Frankly, he’s done his share of mocking people. I’ve had some soft run ins myself with him, largely when he got silly and over his skis on social while shilling for this candidate or that. This situation is probably humbling for him. But he’s also smart, conservative, very engaged and hard-working (with a great conservative mom), and frankly I am defending him here because the cruel bashing he’s getting is very out of proportion to the alleged offense.

I’d also note that because Wisconsin takes so long to process blood tests, that result won’t be known for months but the reputational harm is occurring now.

Obviously, drinking and driving isn’t a good thing to do. It’s bad to drink and drive. And I’m not criticizing the officer here. I’m criticizing the gleeful out-of-proportion politicized response.

But if driving under the legal limit and not being able to balance on one leg makes him Al Capone, then there won’t be many people in public life left. I mean, it’s Wisconsin.

Give it a rest.
