John W. Smith Memorial Golf Tournament

Six days till we tee off at the 4th John W. Smith Memorial Golf Tournament. Hope everyone has it marked on their calendar and see you Saturday morning on the links. Settings Restaurant will be having an awesome all you can eat Pancake Breakfast that morning.

It's official, June 23rd Shotgun start at 10am - Hot dogs at the turn and Steak dinner at Smith residence at 5 pm. BYOB Cost is $60 per player or $40 for members of Deer Run. Call Karen at home or email your reservation or call the Pro Shop and sign up. Pro Shop # is 231-585-6800.

This year we are planning on a gift of $500 to the Evan Golf Scholarship Fund in John's memory with the money we raise.

Yvonne's voting for Mackinaw Island, she says she has never been there, I'm looking for the pictures to prove her wrong!

This year for all of the out-of-town guest we are giving you a choice on what you would like to do on Sunday. The choices this year are:
1. Canoeing or kayaking down the Jordan River near Mancelona, or,
2. Trip to Mackinaw Island.

Registrar you choice here and we will make plans for which ever one wins. Each player and guest will receive a vote: ex; Billy one vote, Lynette one vote. So get those votes in and let us know.

BREAKING NEWS - Have secured the house next door for guest for next years Tournament. Now we have 3 houses for guest to stay at, will keep everyone posted as new info becomes available. Have a Happy Thanksgiving to all our families and friends.

Well the weekend is over and a great time was had by all, but once again it went by way to quickly. Loved having som many of the family around, looking forward to more next year.

Thursday morning and waiting for the first guest from Tennessee to arrive, followed very quickly by more family and friends the rest of the day and tomorrow. Little overcast this morning but should clear out for a beautiful weekend. Have had just enough rain where everything is lush and green again and the course is looking beautiful. Hope to see everyone in 2 days on the first tee.

Four days and counting, looking forward to seeing friends and family, weather forecast is for a sunny weekend in the low 80's, perfect golf weather.

Will someone have a Hole-in-One next Saturday, the 27th, if they do and are playing in the Memorial Tournament they just may win themselves $5000 or an awesome prize.

The count down has started, friends and family start arriving next Thursday at Lakes of the North for the Tournament on Saturday. Have you got your team together, looking forward to seeing everyone and having a great time. Nine days (9) to go and we will see you than on the first tee.

Time to start getting your teams together for the 3rd annual John W. Smith Golf Tournament to be held on Saturday, August 27th. Happy to say the Tennessee group is bring a couple of teams up to play, lots of fun and camaraderie planned for the weekend. Hope to see you all there.

The end of a long beautiful weekend and a very successful Tournament. Thanks to all who joined us this year on the links or supported us. Everyone had a great time and we raised a nice amount of money for the golf course. We are starting plans for next year. Same time, same place, last weekend of August 2011.
