Proud is an understatement for this mare, who I was once certain would remain forever terrified of humans and determined to escape any uncomfortable situation. While she is not yet fully gentled—I certainly wouldn’t let your grandma go in her stall but —she achieved a major milestone today by leading around the arena for the very first time without blowing up or shaking with fear, instead -following me confidently and happily both with and without pressure as we celebrate these small yet meaningful victories I am just so happy watching her come along.
