Being an influencer doesn’t make someone an authority.
“I lost a bunch of weight” doesn’t inherently mean “I’ll make a good coach.”
I lost a bunch of weight doesn’t always mean “I know how to help you lose a bunch of weight.”
“I ate 1200 calories” doesn’t mean “you should eat 1200 calories” 🤮🤮🤮
“I’ve worked/studied my ass off to learn how to help you- based on your circumstances, not mine. Your traumas, not mine. Your journey, not mine- but I approach our relationship with informed empathy that comes from my own journey and our shared experiences.” That makes a good coach.

They don’t mean s**t if you preach unethical, disordered practices, advise unhealthily low calorie intakes (because you lost weight like an as***le and didn’t learn from it), or push hollow claims unsubstantiated by science, psychology, or experience to a vulnerable following to milk likes.
Being an influencer doesn’t make someone an authority. It’s time we started saying that a little louder.
