He just turned 100. Now he wants to go scuba diving.

Modesto Villaverde is preparing for a dive that could potentially make him the world's oldest scuba diver.

His last reported dive? The Red Sea at the age of 96.

Four years later, he's hoping to get underwater again, this time with a world record in his sights.

Today we celebrate 144 years of U.S. Navy Divers.

For generations, Navy Divers have served with courage, skill, and unwavering dedication beneath the surface. Their contributions have shaped the history of military diving and continue to inspire the diving community today.
