The basis of any good training program is small incremental increases in intensity or volume over time. Why? Well, because if you jumpstart ahead too quickly, you put yourself at risk of injury or overtraining.
What does your training program look like at the moment? Hopefully there’s some foam rolling going on somewhere in it! Because if not, you’re seriously missing out on some major muscle boosting benefits.

Although it doesn’t always feel like it, foam rolling itself doesn’t hurt. In fact, it is actually the trigger points that hurt, foam rolling merely releases them. So, remember, if a particular area is uncomfortable to focus on during foam rolling, it means you need to place even more emphasis on that area, not less!

Monday Motivation:
Since we discussed goal setting last week, this week I thought I’d share the idea of SMART goals with you all.
When setting your new health and fitness goals, don’t forget to make sure that they are SMART. What do I mean by that exactly? Well…
S: specific
M: measurable
A: attainable
R: relevant
T: time-bound
Remember, having a timeline when it comes to goal progression and achievement is a great motivating factor!

You say Slow Saturdays, I say rest day.
While regular exercise is known to improve one’s sleep, many individuals find their sleep being affected after a workout. This is because working out causes your body to release hormones, such as the stress hormone cortisol as well as adrenaline. These are two hormones that can lead to poor sleep.
This is just another great reason why a rest day could benefit your body, as it gives your body the time it needs to return your hormone production to normal.
