⚓️⚾️ - Congratulations to KJ Jones for being selected for the 2026 BSN Elite Brevard Baseball Team! Congratulations to Gabe for being named Player of the Year and all the other great players that were selected. Great job this season 👏🏻
BSN BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR: MELBOURNE’S GABRIEL GONZALEZ HEADLINES 2026 BSN PLAYERS OF THE YEAR:
Brevard County baseball was absolutely loaded in 2026.
Power arms. Elite shortstops. State-ranked teams. Brutal schedules. Sophomores and freshmen already looking like future college prospects. Veteran stars anchoring winning programs. Deep lineups capable of beating anybody on any given night.
BSN started with an initial pool of nearly 40 players before ultimately narrowing the list down to 15 All-County selections (regardless of position) along with several honorable mention players who just missed the final roster. And honestly, that process was brutal this season.
There were players left off this team who absolutely had All-County caliber years.
That is what made this season so difficult to evaluate because raw numbers alone did not tell the entire story.
It is important to understand there is a difference between batting .450 with 22 hits against average pitching and batting .450 with nearly 30 hits while consistently facing elite arms, top programs and playoff-caliber schedules every single week.
Strength of schedule mattered. Production against quality competition mattered. Defensive value mattered. Winning mattered. Positional versatility mattered. Impact on games mattered.
Some players piled up numbers against lighter schedules while others were producing nightly against district champions, regional teams and Division-I caliber pitching.
That does not diminish anybody’s season, but it absolutely factored into the evaluation process.
As we’ve done in previous years, BSN selected one player as the county’s overall Player of the Year and after sorting through one of the deepest baseball talent pools the Space Coast has seen in several seasons, Melbourne Bulldogs standout Gabriel Gonzalez emerged as the choice for the 2026 BSN Baseball Player of the Year, edging out several tremendous candidates in an incredibly crowded field.
Gonzalez did not simply have a great season. He authored one of the most complete offensive seasons in Brevard County baseball this spring and he did it against elite competition while helping lead Melbourne to a 20-win season and a district championship.
From the top of the lineup, the Melbourne star led Brevard County in batting average among players with 70 or more plate appearances, hitting a ridiculous .507 while consistently setting the tone atop one of the county’s most consistent lineups.
He also finished first in the state of Florida in stolen bases with 41 SETTING THE NEW BREVARD COUNTY RECORD.
Gonzalez supsssed Kevin Verpaele of Merritt Island who had the record of 40 for 27 years until Gabe set it.
Nearly every time Gonzalez reached base, pressure immediately followed. He turned singles into doubles, routine plays into rushed throws and completely altered games with his speed and instincts.
Gonzalez finished the season with:
* .507 batting average
* 35 hits
* 33 runs scored
* 10 doubles
* 4 triples
* 1 HR
* .600-plus OBP
* 41 stolen bases BREVARD COUNTY RECORD:
* Only 9 errors in 85 fielding chances
Night after night, Gonzalez delivered against elite pitching while helping Melbourne navigate one of the tougher schedules in Brevard County.
When the Bulldogs needed a spark, Gonzalez usually provided it. When they needed pressure on the bases, Gonzalez created chaos. When they needed a big hit against quality competition, Gonzalez routinely answered the call.
That combination of consistency, explosiveness, production and impact on winning ultimately made him the clear choice for BSN Player of the Year.
Behind Gonzalez, however, the race for the remaining All-County spots was absolutely brutal.
Strength of schedule mattered. Winning mattered. Arms faced and defensive value mattered. Production mattered. Positional versatility mattered. Impact against quality competition mattered.
The end result is one of the deepest All-County baseball teams BSN has ever assembled.
BSN’S 2026 ELITE BASEBALL TEAM
Merritt Island sends the most players to the 2026 BSN All-County Team with five selections after putting together one of the most dominant overall offensive seasons in Brevard County.
As a team, the Mustangs finished the season batting .356 while overwhelming opponents with depth, athleticism and relentless offensive pressure from top to bottom. Merritt Island also finished a staggering plus-199 in run differential while winning 24 games against one of the toughest schedules in Florida.
Many of the players who helped drive the county’s winningest team and arguably its most complete offense earned spots on this year’s roster. The Mustangs were not built around one star carrying the load. They came at opponents in waves, which is exactly why Merritt Island deserved such heavy representation on the 2026 BSN All-County Team.
SOPHOMORE TY BRANDES — MERRITT ISLAND
* .455 AVG
* 35 hits
* 44 runs scored
* 25 RBI
* 6 doubles
* 3 triples
* 2 HR
* 16 stolen bases
* 1.265 OPS
* Just 3 errors in 52 chances
Brandes was sensational in 2026 as he helped propel Merritt Island into one of the best teams in Florida.
The sophomore shortstop impacted games offensively, defensively and on the mound while helping lead the Mustangs to a 24-5 season against one of the toughest schedules in the state. His combination of athleticism, bat speed, defensive value and baseball instincts made him one of the most complete players in Brevard County regardless of class.
JUNIOR LIAM MILLER — MERRITT ISLAND
* .402 AVG
* 35 hits
* 37 RBI (Led Brevard County)
* 8 doubles
* 2 HR
* 1.063 OPS
* Just 3 errors in 42 chances
Miller emerged as one of the county’s premier run producers and consistently delivered in big moments all spring long.
The Merritt Island junior anchored the middle of one of Brevard County’s deepest lineups and routinely punished mistakes against elite competition. His ability to drive in runs while also playing strong defense helped make Merritt Island one of the toughest teams in Florida to navigate from top to bottom.
FRESHMAN CHARLIE BLALOCK — MERRITT ISLAND
* .392 AVG
* 31 hits
* 30 RBI
* 8 doubles
* 2 triples
* 8 stolen bases
* 1.049 OPS
The freshman phenom absolutely belongs in the future-star conversation in Brevard County baseball.
Blalock played far beyond his years in 2026 and quickly became one of the most dangerous young hitters on the Space Coast.
Defensively he helped turn six double plays making just 5 errors on 73 total chances. The fact he produced these numbers as a freshman while playing one of the toughest schedules in Florida speaks volumes about his talent and projection moving forward.
SOPHOMORE GRANT ARNOLD — MERRITT ISLAND
* .373 AVG
* 28 hits
* 28 RBI
* 12 stolen bases
* .999 OPS
Arnold’s offensive consistency helped make Merritt Island arguably the deepest lineup in Brevard County. On many other seasons, these numbers easily land a player on the final team.
Arnold was also one of the best closers in the county. In 14 innings pitched he allowed just 7 hits, 3 earned striking out 25 with an ERA of 1.47.
JUNIOR BRODY VOGEL — MERRITT ISLAND
* .342 AVG
* 26 hits
* 18 RBI
* 7 doubles
* 1 HR
* 10 stolen bases
* .943 OPS
Vogel quietly put together an outstanding season for one of Florida’s top programs and consistently contributed quality production throughout the spring.
He was also sensational in the outfield for the Mustangs.
SOPHOMORE BRYCE CONNER — MELBOURNE
* .360 AVG
* 27 hits
* 31 RBI
* 6 doubles
* 7 HR (Led Brevard County)
* Tied for 7th in Florida in HR
Conner gave Melbourne one of the most dangerous middle-of-the-order bats anywhere in Brevard County.
The sophomore slugger emerged as one of the top power hitters in the state this season, leading the county in home runs while tying for seventh in Florida with seven bombs.
His power completely changed games and helped give Melbourne one of the most explosive offenses on the Space Coast. He drove in all four runs during the Bulldogs final heartbreaker of the season with a home run and triple showing he’s also more than ready for big game moments.
FRESHMAN GARRETT HARPER — COCOA BEACH
* .442 AVG
* 42 hits
* 27 runs scored
* 19 RBI
* 9 doubles
* 3 triples
* 1 HR
* 1.141 OPS
The freshman sensation became one of the biggest breakout stars in Brevard County baseball this spring while helping lead Cocoa Beach to a strong season and district championship.
Harper’s 42 hits were the most among this group of elite players and his advanced approach at the plate consistently stood out all season long. The scary part for opposing pitchers is that Harper is only getting started.
Harper was also dominating on the mound making him a dual threat player to watch over the next three years. He just missed making our staff of the year.
JUNIOR KAYDEN DOUGHERTY — COCOA BEACH
* .415 AVG
* 34 hits
* 27 RBI
* 8 doubles
* 3 triples
* 1.100 OPS
Dougherty was one of the most productive two-way players in Brevard County and a major reason Cocoa Beach fielded one of the county’s best offensive lineups.
The junior consistently delivered quality at-bats, drove in runs and also starred on the mound throughout the spring. His inclusion on the BSN Pitching Staff of the Year makes him one of the early favorites for Player of the Year entering next season.
SOPHOMORE CARTER LEE — VIERA
* .395 AVG
* 30 hits
* 21 runs scored
* 7 doubles
* 12 stolen bases
* 1.024 OPS
* .983 fielding percentage
Our ACE of the Year, Lee impacted games in every phase and emerged as one of the county’s premier all-around players in 2026.
Whether it was getting on base, creating pressure with his speed or making plays defensively, the Viera standout consistently affected winning baseball. His combination of offensive production and defensive reliability made him one of the toughest players in Brevard County to gameplan against.
JUNIOR TREY SLAVIK — VIERA
* .375 AVG
* 27 hits
* 19 RBI
* 5 doubles
* 2 triples
* 2 HR
* 17 stolen bases
* 1.083 OPS
Slavik’s combination of speed, athleticism and explosiveness made him one of the most complete players on the Space Coast this season.
The Viera standout consistently created pressure offensively while also delivering big moments against quality competition. His ability to impact games in multiple ways helped anchor one of Brevard County’s better overall teams.
JUNIOR BRADY ROBERTS — SATELLITE
* .374 AVG
* 34 hits
* 31 runs scored
* 23 RBI
* 8 doubles
* 2 triples
* 4 HR
* 10 stolen bases
* 1.086 OPS
* Perfect fielding percentage
Roberts was a tremendous catalyst for Satellite offensively and one of the county’s best all-around players.
The junior consistently produced despite facing quality pitching throughout the season and his power-speed combination made him incredibly dangerous. Add in perfect defense and Roberts firmly established himself as one of the premier players in Brevard County baseball this spring.
JUNIOR BRANDON BELL — SATELLITE
* .361 AVG
* 26 hits
* 15 RBI
* 6 doubles
* 1 triple

* .460 AVG
* 29 hits
* 26 runs scored
* 10 RBI
* 6 doubles
* 1 HR
* 14 stolen bases
* 1.144 OPS
Carroll quietly put together one of the best offensive seasons anywhere in Brevard County this spring.
The MCC standout consistently produced against quality competition and established himself as one of the county’s toughest players to retire. His combination of contact ability, speed and overall offensive consistency made him impossible to overlook during the selection process.
KJ JONES — EAU GALLIE
* .349 AVG
* 22 hits
* 16 RBI
* 7 doubles
* 2 HR
* 1.068 OPS
* .982 fielding percentage
Jones consistently produced against one of the toughest schedules in Brevard County and remained a major offensive force throughout the season. His combination of offensive production and defensive reliability was what the Commodores needed.
CLOSE BUT JUST MISSED
JUNIOR BRADY JENSEN- MERRITT ISLAND
* .322
* 19 Hits
* 524 OBP
* 1 Error in 189 chances behind the plate
Jensen had a good season at the plate but he nearly made the list because watching him catch is like watching a YouTube instructional video on some nights. The way he handles the staff, blocks balls, holds runners is a joy to watch. He made just one error all season behind the plate.
JUNIOR NOLAN WERLE — PALM BAY
* .406 AVG
* 28 hits
* 32 runs scored
* 16 RBI
* 7 doubles
* 14 stolen bases

NATHAN EDWARDS — ASTRONAUT
* .407 AVG
* 24 hits
* 22 RBI
* 7 doubles
* 1 triple
* 3 HR
* 13 stolen bases
* 1.182 OPS
Edwards emerged as one of the most dangerous all-around offensive threats in Brevard County this season.
The Astronaut standout combined power, speed and run production while consistently delivering quality at-bats throughout the spring.
BSN SAYS
This was one of the hardest All-County baseball teams BSN has ever selected because the depth across Brevard County was absolutely loaded from top to bottom.
Merritt Island played arguably the toughest overall schedule and absolutely deserved heavy representation after winning 24 games against elite competition while establishing themselves as one of the top programs in Florida.
Melbourne had the county’s best overall player. Cocoa Beach featured one of the best offensive lineups on the Space Coast.
Satellite, Viera, Palm Bay, MCC and Eau Gallie all produced legitimate All-County caliber players.
And honestly, several players left off this team probably would have made the roster in many previous seasons.
But when everything was weighed — statistics, strength of schedule, consistency, defensive value, impact on winning and production against quality competition — Gabriel Gonzalez ultimately edged out the best of the rest.
2026- Carter Lee Pitcher of the Year | Gabriel Gonzalez Player of the Year
