Works from LeMoyne-Owen College's collection as well as those by Professor Phil Dotson are on display at the Dixon through January 2, 2022, with a Meet the Artist Reception on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 5-7 pm (free admission).

"Through more than fifty paintings, sculptures, and works on paper, Black Artists in America: From the Great Depression to Civil Rights will introduce audiences to the first in a series of three exhibitions that depict the chronological impact of African American artists in the United States. Guest curator, Dr. Earnestine Jenkins from the University of Memphis worked closely with the Dixon to organize the exhibition, and brought in significant Memphis institutions to highlight the local significance of black artists during this time. LeMoyne-Owen College, a Historically Black College, and Second Congregational Church, chapel of LeMoyne-Owen College have generously partnered with the Dixon Gallery and Gardens to lend artworks by Vertis Hayes and Reginal Morris to the exhibition."

Cigna and Christ Community Health Services are bringing a mobile vaccination event to 38126, Thursday, July 22 between 10 am - 2 pm on the parking lot of the Saxon Dormitory located at 859 Saxon Ave. They will have the Moderna vaccine - 1st and 2nd vaccine appointments are available. Walk-ups are welcome.
