Greetings First Responders!

The Sheriffs and Police Activities League (Memphis Shelby PAL) mission in partnership with Ford Motor Company as well as community stakeholders and volunteers, is to decrease juvenile crime by affording youth the opportunity to engage officers in a different light.

Our belief is that when youth interact with you out of uniform in a classroom or athletic field as Advisers, Coaches and Mentors holding a clipboard, wearing a whistle or baseball cap then when they meet us on the street they begin to respect the laws that we enforce daily.

Help youth find their greatness through intervention, mentorship, athletics, academics, and leadership development programs. WE NEED YOU!

We are recruiting 20 Law Enforcement Officers to be a part of our “Critical Conversations Listening Tour”, presented by Ford Motor Company and Memphis Shelby PAL. During these conversations, youth and law-enforcement will engage in discussion centered around social justice, the role of police in the community and creative solutions to help create strong bonds and mutual trust and respect between police and the community.

This program includes a 2-hour training session, a tour of 8 middle/high schools, 4 weeks of discussion with youth, and a recap/observation week.

The focus of this program is to help promote open communication, dialogue and trust between law enforcement and youth. These workshops would have youth participating in small group discussions where their voices will be heard.

This 4-week program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Initial training is schedule for:

Date: Monday, November 21st

Location: The Great Hall & Conference Center, 1900 Germantown, TN 38138

Time: 5pm - 7pm

This is an off duty opportunity.
