Taekwondo is a Kicking Art
Eastern world has enormously contributed to the world of fighting sports with its cultural richness of various martial arts. Chinese and Japanese variants of martial arts like Karate, Judo and Kung-Fu are being practiced by many nations across the world. In spite of its rich history, the Korean martial arts like Taekkyeon or Gwonbeop were endangered upon the dawn of the Confucianism era. By the midst of the 19th century, when Japan left Korea after losing the war, the nine original Kwans were granted freedom to further improve their studies in the Korean Martial Arts. General Choi Hong Hi of South Korea expressed enormous interest in reviving it by incorporating them in the standard military practices. Over the time, he coined the term Taekwondo for modern usage and founded his own international body of organization called the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF). Speed is more important than mass When Taekwondo was being practiced in the Kwans, it was being developed as anonymous

Advancing to the next stage depends on the environment surrounding the kid. Ideally, a preschooler needsmoderate to vigorous physical activity daily. Today, martial arts has seen a rise in popularity and has been a part of every Olympic Games tournament since last few decades. New forms of martial arts are being explored and developed by various schools and organizations around the world. Passing the tradition Legends or veterans of martial arts are now left with a duty of passing on their traditions to the next generation. To achieve that purpose, some of them establish their own schools and some join the existing schools to make a contribution. How Martial Arts Improve Social Skills Part 1
Contrary to popular belief, karate has less to do with fighting and more to do with the improvement of mind, body, and spirit. Learning a martial art can develop social and interpersonal skills in surprising ways. There is a longstanding and deeply rooted misconception about the martial arts. Many believe the training is all about violence. However, this is not the case. It is not the goal of responsible martial arts instructors to teach students to fight. Self-defense skills are central to the practice, but their true purpose is more diverse and more important. Many important lessons can be learned from studying martial arts. Self-improvement of body, mind, and spirit is the true purpose of training. Along with the physical skills, karate students learn to practice the art of self-knowledge. Quality training programs instill in students of all ages the virtues of respect and self-discipline. These are virtues that carry over into all areas of life. Gaining Respect How can martial art

Martial Arts Benefit Pre-Schoolers too! Part 2
Parents appreciate the improved fitness, attention, and good behavior that result from their preschoolers’ martial arts training. They like that the environment is positive, safe, and supervised by professionals. And they often make friends with other parents, as their children make friends with others their age. These relationships are often very beneficial for all involved, traveling outside the karate setting into home, school, and community for years to come. Pre-schoolers not only have a blast portraying their favorite cartoon characters – Power Rangers™, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™, Ninjago™, and others – they grow stronger in body, mind, and spirit with regular practice. Most don’t even realize that the martial arts games they play, neat moves they practice, and fascinating stories they hear in class are helping them to be the best they can be. Karate pre-schoolers learn better and faster by “doing” more than by “watching,” so instructors keep them on th

Holiday Time of Cheer and Discipline
It s That Time Again! It s that time of year when, many of us, get to eat great food, be with close friends and family. What a great Time of Year! While some people see us (Martial Artists) as strict dietary Pillars of Discipline, the truth is that we too enjoy food. In fact we enjoy A Lot of food. The difference is that we do our best to enjoy a cleaner than most diet and have the Internal Fortitude to continue our physical regimen to work off any unneeded calories or fat. Through exercise, proper eating, and training we are able to, at times, enjoy the wonderful foods that we are blessed to have in front of us during the Holiday Season. We eat, enjoy, and are very Thankful for the foods that God has provided. We also know that what we ingest during the festivities will need to be worked out of our physical selves so that we do not become sluggish, lazy, or . (that word) FAT! This all comes from an acquired discipline through our Martial Arts training. This is why w
