🏆 October Athlete of the Month — King Daniel

Cen Cal Drive is proud to recognize King Daniel, age 11, as our October Athlete of the Month!

Over the past two years at The Driveway, King has developed into a dynamic young point guard. His combination of shiftiness, creativity, court vision, and passing ability allows him to do more than simply score the basketball—he is learning how to be a true floor general, create opportunities for his teammates, and run a team.

King’s growth has been a direct reflection of his consistency and commitment to developing his game. But what makes us especially proud is the young man he continues to become off the court. King works hard in the classroom, maintaining strong grades while balancing basketball, school, and his other activities. That discipline and character are every bit as important to us as what he accomplishes on the basketball court.

His development was recently on full display at our 3rd Annual Back-to-School Camp & Combine, where King earned multiple honors for his performance. He showed tremendous promise throughout the combine testing and skill work and was also recognized as an Outstanding Performer for his overall play throughout the weekend, including live-game competition and skill activities.

King has put together two years of steady growth, and he’s beginning to see the results of that work. We’re proud of how far he has come, but even more excited about how much room he still has to grow. As he continues developing his leadership, decision-making, and complete point-guard game, we believe he has an opportunity to become a special player.

Keep setting goals, keep working, and keep leading, King. The future is bright, and you’ve earned this recognition! 👑🏀🏆

🏆 September Athlete of the Month — Jonathan Durant

Cen Cal Drive is proud to recognize Jonathan Durant, age 8, as our September Athlete of the Month!

Jonathan has earned this recognition through his consistency, coachability, and commitment to getting better. One of the qualities that stands out most about Jonathan is his calm, cool, and collected demeanor. He doesn’t need to be the loudest player on the court to make his presence felt. He listens, competes, and allows his play to speak for him.

We’ve been especially impressed with the growth Jonathan has shown on the defensive end of the floor. His effort, awareness, and willingness to compete defensively have taken a noticeable step forward, and that development was on full display during this past weekend’s Merced Elite Tournament. Jonathan showed that he can accept a challenge, make adjustments, and contribute to winning basketball.

At only eight years old, Jonathan is already developing qualities that coaches love to see: discipline, toughness, adaptability, and a willingness to be coached. He continues to absorb instruction and apply what he’s learning, and that maturity gives us a lot of confidence about where his game can go.

There is still so much basketball ahead of Jonathan, but the foundation he’s building right now is exciting. If he continues approaching his development with the same quiet confidence and commitment, we believe Jonathan is going to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

We also want to extend a special thank you to Jonathan’s parents, Joseph and Hillary, for their continued support of the Cen Cal Drive program and for trusting our staff to coach, challenge, and develop Jonathan as he works toward his goals. We truly appreciate that trust and the opportunity to be part of his basketball journey.

🚨 CENTRAL VALLEY — IT’S OFFICIAL! 🚨

The 3rd Annual Back 2 School Basketball Camp + Combine is locked in and ready to go at Atwater High School! 🏀🔥

We’re teaming up with Coach Ben Peterson and BP Skills Lab for TWO DAYS of elite training, combine testing, competition, athlete development and recognition.

⏰ Athlete Check-In: 9:30 AM each day
🏀 Camp: 10:00 AM–2:30 PM both days

💥 Early Bird Registration: $99 before September 1
🎟️ Standard Registration: $150

Registrations are already coming in, and we’re expecting this to be one of our biggest Back 2 School events yet.

Athletes will train, test, compete and grow while getting the opportunity to work with high-level coaches and compete alongside players from across the Central Valley.

🏆 August Athlete of the Month — Johanns Castro

Congratulations to Johanns Castro, our August Athlete of the Month!

At just 8 years old, Johanns has been part of the Cen Cal program for over a year and a half, and during that time, we’ve had the opportunity to watch him grow into an exceptional young basketball player.

What separates Johanns is his grit, determination, and consistency. He’s in the gym three days a week putting in the work, always ready to learn and compete. He is extremely coachable and has taken tremendous pride in developing his ball handling, toughness, and overall versatility.

Most importantly, the work is showing up on the court. Johanns’ commitment to getting better has translated into increased confidence, production, and the ability to impact the game in multiple ways. His improvement is a great example of what can happen when a young athlete embraces coaching, stays consistent, and isn’t afraid to work.

The future is extremely bright for Johanns. We believe he has the potential to become one of the future leaders of the Cen Cal program, and we’re excited to continue watching his journey.

We also want to give a special thank you to Johanns’ parents, Nillton and Fedila, for their continued support and for trusting our staff with Johanns’ development. Their commitment and partnership play an important role in his growth, and we truly appreciate the opportunity to be a part of his basketball journey.

🏆 JULY ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: SAM BROWN 🏆
Congratulations to Sam Brown, our July Athlete of the Month!
Sam is a 12-year-old seventh grader who has been part of the Cen Cal family for over a year. When Sam first came to us, he had very limited basketball experience. Since then, he has consistently put in the work to improve his ball-handling, strengthen his understanding of the game, and develop his overall basketball IQ.
Over the last six months, Sam has made major strides. His willingness to be coached, listen, learn, and try new things has allowed both his game and his confidence to begin showing more and more on the court.
We also want to recognize Sam’s parents, Jill and Mike, for their continued support of the program and for trusting us to be part of Sam’s development.
Sam’s goal is to make his junior high basketball team, and we are proud to continue helping him work toward it.
Sam, your progress has not gone unnoticed. Keep working, keep learning, and keep going! 💪🏀

🏀 Cen Cal Drive – May Player of the Month

Adrian Munoz

Cen Cal Drive is proud to recognize Adrian Munoz as our May Player of the Month — an honor that reflects not only his growth on the court, but also his dedication, consistency, and commitment to development over the past year and a half in the program.

At just 11 years old and currently finishing up the 6th grade, Adrian has continued to evolve into an elite young talent with tremendous upside. What makes Adrian special is his versatility as a combo guard and his natural ability to score the basketball at a high level. Whether he’s creating for himself, making plays for teammates, or stepping into big moments with confidence, Adrian continues to show why his future in the game is incredibly bright.

More importantly, Adrian has earned this recognition through his attitude and work ethic. His willingness to stay coachable, compete, and trust the process has allowed him to steadily improve while playing across multiple age groups within the Cen Cal system. That kind of hunger, maturity, and commitment to growth is exactly what Cen Cal Drive is all about.

We also want to give a special shoutout to Adrian’s aunt and grandmother for their unwavering support and consistency throughout his journey. Having a strong support system behind a young athlete makes all the difference, and their belief in Adrian, along with their trust in the coaching and development process, has played a major role in his continued success.

Adrian’s story is a reminder that development, discipline, and consistency always pay off. We’re extremely proud of the player and young man he is becoming, and we’re excited to continue watching his basketball journey unfold.
