Aug 1 - Today is my favorite day of the year, as a new bowling season begins. May the 2023-24 season bring all of you: a lot of strikes, spares, and high scores. And hopefully, it will be your best year on the lanes. Thanks, for keeping the ball rolling!

My favorite time of the year. Attended two league meetings last Monday. This is the new Scratch Match Point League at Brunswick Mesa on Aug 27. This league ended up with 12 teams. It replaced the AZ Draft Classic League in the East Valley. Congrats to Craig Spencer and Daniel Scott for getting it on the floor.

As a new season begins today, the 2018-19 season, I am remembering a time when I was really good at this game. I rolled this series in August of 1989, at Galaxy Lanes in Ft.Myers, Fl. My high game that evening on lanes 45 and 46, was a 268,679. It was one of those evenings where my skill level was out of this world. Here is hoping all of you have a successful season and achieve all of your bowling goals.

I attened a USA Bowling Level #1 Coaches Clinic this morning at Brunswick Zone Mesa. The clinic was taught by PBA pro bowler Josh Blanchard. I found the clinic to be interesting and informative. Can a new title as coach be in my bowling future? Along with my other bowling activities? Stay tuned to find out the answer to this question.

So how far back does your bowling career go? My very first junior bowling tournament circa 1973. Nick Perry hosted 'Greater Pittsburgh Championship Bowling' and 'Bowling For Dollars' 'on WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh. I wonder what ever happened to the pair of lanes that were in the studio until the end of the shows run. With some luck, could they have ended up in the Heinz History Center? The pinsetters were semi-automatic and the TV show had a pin boy.

Completed my third year as a Director with the Mesa Metro Association on Sunday May 20.
Congratulations goes out to our newly installed HOF members Johnny Wing, and Mark Large.
Congratulations also goes out to our four youth bowlers who
were named our Boy and Girl of the Year.
This year was a great year for me personally as I was able
to get back into bowling myself and bowl in a league also.
After not bowling for 27 years, it went like I thought it would
go. But, I needed to be out bowling with the membership.
This year I just wanted to work on the basics. In 2018-19,
I will work on raising my average. Can't wait until next
season begins. See you all in the fall.
