Use the Tongue Mudra during Somatic Movement Patterns to create faster, larger changes than without.
This is a demonstration of the basic Tongue Mudra Technique. I'll post more potent advanced variations in the near future, but this is seriously all you need.
It may seem weird that positioning of the tongue in this way can have the effects that it does. People having been using it for thousands of years for a reason. It works. Find out for yourself.
Use the Tongue Mudra during all Somatic Movement Patters for maximum results.
It's an ancient Yogic breathing technique that involves special positioning of your tongue to the top top of your mouth, the soft palate.
It does what any deep breathing exercise does, it helps shut down the Sympathetic Nervous system and relax you, putting your brain in the OPTIMAL state for learning something new.
This technique will dramatically increase your results from Somatic movement patterns. Definitely give it a try and incorporate it into your regiment. Once you're good at it, you can go from a stressed out raging mess to completely relaxed in 5 minutes, most likely less.

The brain picture in the post pic is your Voluntary Motor Cortex. Your entire body is mapped out there as you can see. Whenever you go to stand, sit, shift your weight, turn the page, that signal to carry out that general movement command, is originating in the VMC.
I want you to see this as your Grand Piano, YOU are the composer, you are the artist, and this is where you make your movement music.
The VMC has two sections, There's the Motor Section ( understood by science ), and the Sensing Section ( not understood by science). The Motor Section is where YOU originate any movement. The Sensing Section is what you are allowed to move. What you can FEEL.
As we age, a higher and higher percentage of our Sarcomeres (smallest unit of muscle) are becoming stuck on around the clock, even in our sleep. These "areas of your muscles where sarcomeres are under contraction 24/7 are NUMB to you. You can no longer feel them, therefore you can no longer use them. This is why this therapy isn't understood by science. All Somatic movement pattern instructions STRESS subjective sensation and feeling elements that are happening on a per-person bases, you have to explore the landscape of your 650 muscles.
Now, Mother Nature's Pandiculation Relfex reverses this numb process by overcontracting muscles that are already tight, and then slowly and smoothly relaxing them (she seeks control). The AHHHH part of the morning yawn. There is a high quality cascade of sensory information that floods the voluntary motor Cortex reforging the connection between the Motor and Sensing Sections

Today we're talking about YOU, the awareness inside your meatsac and how that experience changes as we age.
We start our journey off at, or around the age of 18. At this age a person more or less has full control of every last one of their sarcomeres ( smallest unit of muscle ). What that means simply is that all of their muscles are relaxed, no tight muscles, if you're not using a muscle it is relaxed, therefore you CONTROL it.
This translates to efficient, pain free, smooth, effortless movement. A person around this age typically FEELS invincible for a reason. Shove a 20 year old down to the ground, and they're going to pop right back up, no grunting or moaning. All of their 650 muscles are "physically" relaxed, therefore they have give and flow. Also their 650 muscles "informationally" send perfect information to and from the brain at light speed during motion as to position, location, and what synergizing muscles are needed to support a particular movement. No kinks in the house, everything flows, and the general overall FEELING is that of well being and peace physically.
As we age and a higher and higher percentage of our muscles are becoming stuck on all throughout our body, our physical EXPERIENCE is deteriorating. Our muscle machine is slowly becoming more and more inefficient. With each step there is wasted energy as we are fighting ourselves from the inside, out. Those sarcomeres that are stuck on are not only draining your energy but they create resistance within your muscle system to movement.
This is why old people walk stiffly, with poor posture, and without grace. This is why they grunt when getting off the couch, this is why if you shove a 40+ year old down to the ground, they're not popping back up, and it's going to hurt like hell. This is why really old people shuffle around, and have slips, trips, and falls! It's also why alot of old people are so miserable!

Today's Post. The Electric Gas Pedal.
When first getting into a Somatics program, this concept of slowly over contracting multiple areas of your body at once, equalizing each effort and then slowly relaxing them ALTOGETHER can be a bit of a challenge.
Then on top of that we tell you, that with EACH repetition of a given movement pattern, you're to use less and less EFFORT, for the same range of motion.
My best visual representation for what YOU are actually doing here, I call the Electric Gas Pedal. Imagine you're driving your car, and you press your foot against the accelerator the least amount you can, before you see and perceive the car moving. You may even have to open up the door and stick your head out at to look at the ground to see if you're moving. This is what its going to feel like when you first get into these movements. SLOW IN, SLOW OUT!
Think of sending one electron at a time, anything to get you into this zone. It's a very focused one! That focus, can make this therapy BORING and difficult at first. That's the price you must pay to take control of your muscles once again. Stretching and Massage simply can not, and will never give you the results this therapy does long term. We are genuinely, and actually reprogramming your muscle tension sets throughout your body by mimicking mother natures technique for doing so called Pandiculation.
Remember, you're the one in control of the Electron Flow! You could watch a person doing a Somatic movement pattern, and at times wonder, is that person even doing anything???!!! Better believe they are, big time!
The movements and sensations you're navigating are that subtle at times. Stay focused, stay determined, and practice!!! Results are going to FLOW your way fast, and you don't even need to come close to doing everything perfectly to see these results. You'll feel them during the first session
