After learning the history, concept and basic dtep for yuka.. the second hour of our workshop focused on how we can apply this popular movement in a timba , casino and social dance context.

**INTRODUCTION TO MAKUTA** 🥁
Makuta is closely related to Yuka, sharing some similar movement qualities and body mechanics while introducing its own **specific rhythms, techniques, and movements**.
This workshop **stands completely on its own** — no previous Yuka experience is required. But if you joined us for Yuka, Makuta will expand on some of those concepts and give you even more Afro-Cuban movement vocabulary to work with.
We’ll focus on:

💃 New Makuta-specific movement vocabulary

In this workshop we worked on the technique, musical appreciation and concept behind Yuka. Building the step and its variations form the ground up.
