Monday night mood☔️
What are you running FROM—and what are you running TO?
In this episode of Fearlessly Authentic, I talk about the insanity so many women feel they have to live up to—in life and in their fitness journey.
You’ve heard me say before that running is NOT the answer for weight loss, if we’re being literal.
But figuratively, I want to ask you something:
What else are you running from? And what are you running to?
When emotions feel too raw or a situation becomes too painful, so many of us run. Myself included.
We run from trauma.
We run from pain.
We run from love.
We run from rejection.
We run from the parts of ourselves we’re afraid to face.
And we convince ourselves we’re not resigned because we’re doing something. We’re moving. We’re busy. We’re searching for the next person, the next distraction, the next thing that might make us feel better.
But sometimes all that running is just keeping us in the exact same place.
For me, I ran from myself.
I was afraid to show my genuine, authentic self because I was afraid of being judged, bullied and criticized. The pain felt too great, so I ran toward people and things that could soothe me instead of learning how to sit with the heaviness and soothe myself.
Eventually, I stopped running away from who I was and started running toward who I wanted to become.
And ultimately, toward who I am now.
That doesn’t mean I never catch myself running anymore. I do.
I just recognize it a whole lot sooner.
So maybe the question isn’t whether you’re running.
It’s whether you’re running away from yourself—or finally running toward yourself.
What are YOU running from—and what are you running to?
Dolly Parton called it “the change of life.”
And if you’re a woman of my generation, you know exactly what she means.
We didn’t talk about menopause in the ’80s and ’90s. We didn’t talk about the depression, the weight gain, the anxiety, the sleepless nights, the loss of libido—or that feeling of waking up one day and not recognizing yourself anymore.
We were told it was just part of getting older.
And many of us were terrified of HRT. We heard it caused breast cancer. We heard it was dangerous. So we suffered quietly and thought that was what we were supposed to do.
I did too.
But here’s what I want women to hear today:
You do not get a gold medal for struggling.
You don’t have to white-knuckle your way through midlife. And you don’t have to accept feeling terrible as the price of getting older.
There is help. There are more conversations. There is better information. And there are qualified doctors who can help you understand your individual options—including whether hormone therapy may be appropriate for you.
So maybe it’s time we stop running.
Stop running from the conversation.
Stop running from asking for help.
Stop running from the possibility that life after menopause can actually feel GOOD.
And start running toward what makes you stronger—better nutrition, lifting weights, taking care of your health, and getting the medical support you need to feel like yourself again.
We spent decades suffering in silence.
We don’t have to anymore.
How had this discussion changed the way you feel about menopause now?
Tomorrow on Fearlessly Authentic, my guest is my own hormone doctor, Marko Paul Lujic — and we’re talking ALL things hormones.
HRT. Menopause. Testosterone. Estrogen. Progesterone. Thyroid. Weight gain. Muscle. Libido. Energy. Bloodwork. And all the confusing information out there.
This is your chance to ask the doctor.
What have you always wanted to know about your hormones but haven’t gotten a straight answer to?

There are no shortcuts to building muscle and getting fit—and by fit, I mean a healthy body-fat percentage with strong, lean muscle on your body.
Your nutrition matters. Your training matters. And yes, genetics play a role too.
HRT is NOT a weight-loss method.
Hormone Replacement Therapy is exactly what the name says: replacing hormones that may have declined or become deficient. And you don’t necessarily have to be menopausal to need hormone therapy. Some women can experience low estrogen, progesterone or testosterone much earlier in life.
That’s why, if you don’t feel like yourself, talk to a qualified healthcare provider and get properly evaluated. Bloodwork can be part of that evaluation, but your symptoms and medical history matter too.
When appropriately prescribed and monitored, HRT can be life-changing for some women. It can help you sleep better, feel better, have more energy and finally feel like YOU again.
But HRT is not your body-composition program.
If you want to reduce body fat and build or preserve lean muscle, you still have to do the work: eat properly and strength train consistently.
So let’s get your hormones addressed so you can feel normal and wonderful again—and at the same time, start building the strong, healthy body you want.
That’s where an expert in nutrition and strength training—like me—comes in. 💪
