Constant reminders can accidentally train children
to rely on the parent’s voice
instead of building their own responsibility.
Over time, the brain learns:
“Someone else will remember for me.”
Research on executive function shows kids develop responsibility through:
ownership
practice
natural consequences
consistent routines
Not endless prompting.
The goal is not perfection.
