Midfielder Work ⚽️

Receptions, Passes, and Movement

For those that ask me how I structure my session -

15 minutes unopposed fundamental technical work (Seen in the video)
15-20 minutes fundamental technical work with pressure.
15-20 minutes position specific work
5-10 minutes Interval runs or sprints

The structure of each session depends on whether it’s an intensive or extensive day.

Intensive days use tighter spaces, shorter explosive actions, more changes of direction, and frequent decisions.

Extensive days use larger spaces, longer passes, carries, combinations, and game-realistic running distances.

The session blocks may stay similar, but the space, distances, intensity, work-to-rest ratio, and running demands change depending on the day’s objective and the player’s weekly schedule.

This is what a young Player training session should look like!

Constantly moving to receive, to pass, and rotating the hips. This includes moving forward, moving backward, and moving laterally. Dribbling in a straight line and dribbling with changes of direction. With big emphasis on receiving and passing with the correct foot.

Spain’s second goal was not one moment of individual brilliance. It was the result of a football education.

The ball moves. Players rotate without destroying the structure. They attract pressure, recycle when the space is closed, and trust that the next advantage will appear. No rushing the action!

The most important point Thierry Henry makes is about identity. Spain’s players learn the same football principles from a young age, so when someone enters the national team, they already understand the game model.

Every player knows what to see, when to move, and how to execute.

Movement without a cue is just running!

Spain’s wide rotation show how the winger and fullback move to create space, shift defenders, and create moments to progress.

World Cup Semi final Predictions 🏆

France and England to advance 🇫🇷🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Spain may control the game but France can punish one transition.
England’s rotations can expose Argentina’s passive defending.

Wingers, get really really good at your end product.

1v1, Crossing, and Scoring.

Will it always be perfect? No. But YOU will create moments and that’s what coaches want.

When I watch a match, I’m not just watching the ball.

I’m studying the shape, the space, the movement before the pass, the timing of the run, the triggers, patterns and the decision that creates the moment.

That is how I analyze football.

So I built the World Cup Study Hub to help you study matches the same way.

Inside, you get my analysis framework, tactical camera matches from the WC, match study templates, player position sheets, and team tactical analysis sheets.

Tactical camera matches are included for educational study purposes only.

Comment “World Cup” and I’ll send you the link.
